What about SCALA? Does it work? And Real3D? Did anyone tried those great programs? I believe that this new gfx feature is great, but not for games. There is no reason to have your A1 playing great old games. An A1200 with hard disk and whdload is the greatest thing that you could have in these days for amiga retro gaming! don't you think?
I'm delighted to hear about the mode promotion, that's a significant step for backwards compatability in itself!
In relation to emulating chipsets ... I don't think that's actually feasible unless you were able to run the Amiga as a virtual machine.
Talking of that, is it actually possible to run the Exec as a re-entrant process, the outermost layer having memory protection enabled and spawning off a copy of itself without memory protection as a virtual machine?
I admit to having only a sketchy idea of what is involved in this, but having transparent backwards compatability always sounded appealing.

@Stephen_Robinson I don't see why it would be a wind-up; something like EOTB doesn't exactly have demanding gfx requirements, so they may have done it in a mostly OS-friendly fashion, just like I *recall* that Dune 2 was done (but dunno if it works with OS4)...
