@Spectre660

Although, after tweaking, the results look *much* better, they are still not on a par with the figures gotten with update 4. This is surprising. With update 5 I would have expected to see an increase, albeit ever so slight.

12MB/s without DMA. Not too bad. Certainly not great, but does the desktop "feel" slow cos of the slower disk?

@Aslak3

It was ok. did not notice until I started Mui-Owb.
The I could see the difference in load speed.
I did not use it too long and reverted to a sii3112 PCI card.
I have to check the speed on the sii3512 card that came with the machine some time,

@Spectre660

Thanks for your continued experiments and supply of data. After a while it dawned on me that you have BOTH a SAM440ep-flex and a SAM460ep.

With respect to the data submitted here I would like contributers to clearly state which type of computer they use, which OS-version used, which driver (& version) used, what make of disk and its capacity.

@OldFart

A summary of results table would be nice too. :) There can't be TOO many combinations, especially if you ignore the variance caused by different HDDs and just take the biggest number.

In regards to my prev post (#125), what would cause the SSD disk to be slower than the HDD? Shouldn't it be the other way round :S

My expectations were quite simmilar, actually. When looking at the first 2 contributions in the Top-10 part (Post #1 and scroll down, down, down...), SSD's can be extremely fast. Here they are used on an X1000 utilising the sb600xxx driver. That combo seems to provide for a very high throughput.
Other systems/combinations return rather mediocre figures, however, sometimes even quite well lower when compared to a traditional spinning solution.

I'm really curious what causes these differences. Anyone having sufficient knowledge care to explain this?

@jabirulo

Thanks for your contribution and what a beauty it is. You can be really proud of such figures! You're only surpassed by theX1000's, but such is in the line of expectations.
And it pretty well shows off the slight increase in speed in comparison to a Seagate spinner.
It may take some time for your figures to show up in post #1, as I'm making do with a cellphone and believe: that's not incouraging.
