(so far I have one, 1,42Ghz one, it cost 220¤, IIRC)
(btw. not managed to boot into MOS so far, not able to control the Apple boot menu...) |
Probs to boot from CD or hdd?
For the CD check whether teh md5 of your iso is correct. If your cd seems fine, just press and hold 'C' directly after reset or power on (CD inserted of course).
If already installed check that the partition which actually hosts MorphOS (not the hfs boot: partition) is checkmarked as bootable. The Apple boot managaer seems to have strange timer settings. On my Mini I see two volumes when pressing 'alt' after reset/power on. But the mouse pointer is busy for a while. Anyway I canselec a drive and after a wait for a no-busy mousepointer I can init the boot process by clicking on the arrow._________________ My programs: via.bckrs.de MorphOS user since V0.4 (2001) |

When I've looked on Ebay over the last few months there have always been several Mac mini G4s in the UK alone at any one time. Seriously, I doubt that a lack of available G4 mac-minis will be the limiting factor in sales of MorphOS (although I'd be very happy if MOS sold so many copies - perhaps they could bring down the price ). |
Indeed. Just looked to ebay.de, there are currently 17 Mac mini g4 for auction. That's not so few. Plus the Mini G4 will probably not be the only hardware for MorphOS (beside the Efika, Pegasos 1 & 2). There will other hardware follow.
And I must add, hunting down a Mac Mini G4 is not difficult and the experience of speed is worth the effort. My Mini is stunning fast. Playing a DVD - about35% cpu load. The speed increase is just massive. Loading 8 MP pics - about 0.4s. Encoding a CD - more than 10 times normal speed. Also the old 68k apps fly as never before. I will provide some bechmark in the next days. In prncile I was always satisfied with my G3/600 Peg, but this speed increaset is truely awsome! _________________ My programs: via.bckrs.de MorphOS user since V0.4 (2001) |

Getting a Mac mini with 1.5GHz/ 64MB vmem for a fair price isn't that easy; especially after it was somewhat announced that MorphOS will be available for Mac mini it looked even more sad on the German eBay. I wasn't able to aquire a 1.5GHz Mac mini so far, luckily I still have my old 1.42GHz one I bought some years ago for Mac OS X usage (replaced now by a high end Intel Mac mini). :)
