@nikosidis

This is looking quite amazing, well done with your campaign to get this great Amiga application on Aros.

Perhaps once this is done we can entice somebody to port Blender for Money

Amiga aplication? It seems more a PC aplication by now...AmigaOS still goes for version 4 and PC for version 5. Now a version for AROS...
I would be nice to have VST support in Amiga.

@t0lkien

This been discussed many times. AHI, our sound system lacks many things to make use of AE 5. There is also other stuff that make a AE 5 difficult to port to Amiga or Amigalike OS.

AE 4 is a exelent program that meets most home studio users requirements.
I don't need anything more than AE 4. I'm 100% this is the situration for most users wanting to do home multi-track recording etc. It is simple to use. Works fast and is system friendly.
You can record in CD quality or higher. There is no limitation in how many tracks you like to use. You can edit your samples, add effects etc.
We have high-end soundcard drivers made by Davy. Both for ESI juli@ and some m-audio cards.

Sometimes programs just get bloated and you don't understand even how to do a simple recording.

Many times I prefer simpler programs. Less resource hungry and more easy to understand.

Also remember that this is a commercial program, so Davy will give support to the one buying the product.

Here is link to AE 4 manual. That should explain what this program can do.

Perhaps I am used to other programs and I am a bit more advanced user than simple have a tracking program.
There are a world of very good plugins in the market that are impossible for Amiga. And impossible for AE.
i cant try AE now but for example, does de Compressor plugin accept SideChain input? How can you route the different tracks between them and between fx plugins? Parallel fx chains?
I remember I tried AE once ago and it was nice. I´ll try to work with the PC demo a bit although it´s version 5.
Perhaps I´m wrong.

@t0lkien

Perhaps I need to explain how AE5 will be put into the market. First and foremost, it will not be there to compete with the big ones like Logic, Pro Tools and Cubase. It is targeted to the 'beginning computer musician'. That means, not necessarily a 'beginning musician', but someone who doesn't require all the options that the big apps give you, which may be well overwhelming. The program 'Reaper' that you mention is also a program that, although an excellent program, is way too complicated for someone who is starting recording with a computer. I couldn't even get my head around it.

The compressor with sidechain option is therefore not present, just like parallel fx chains (but I bet you can find a VST that does just that). As an interesting side-note, the internal audio engine 'eXtream' can handle this easily, there is currently just no interface for it.

Keep in mind that AE5 can be purchased for only 25 euro and the main target market will be OSX which lacks cheap and simple audio/midi recording facilities that is somewhat more professional than GarageBand.

This however, doesn't mean that AE5 is not a great leap forward from AE4. And AE5 in itself is becoming more than useful for a larger number of users now that VSTi's are introduced. At least it doesn't stop me from using it for my own projects successfully. An updated user interface with more professional icons etc. is also underway.

You're welcome to send me any suggestions or bug reports for AE5 at info AT audio-evolution.com keeping in mind the above target market.

@DaveAE

As ever DaveAE you are bringing a great piece of software to the Aros market, and I am interested in recording and editing audio but I do not need hugely complex software or way over the top functionality.

AE4 will do way more than I need and will be perfect for my needs and many others.

@Antique

The amount of pre-orders for a MorphOS version were nearly met quite fast. So I started doing a port using AmiDevCpp. I made it compile and link relatively fast for MorphOS, but had no hardware to test it on. While I'm waiting for that, I switched the compiler option in AmiDevCpp to generate an AROS executable and got that to compile quickly as well. Since I have AROS hardware I of course tried it and am now working my way to get it functioning properly. This may still take some time though. Endian problems can really kill your samples!

Since the MOS and AROS version share some of the porting problems, the total amount of orders (MOS+AROS) makes it worthwhile for me to continue porting.
