My 800 MHz Sam 440 have about one year, and is very stable, I never have problems. |

Where did you get all that anger?
Yes, SAM @ 800Mhz had it quirks and that is why its no longer avail, probably and they have moved to the 460 chipset. Seeing the original speeds of 440 and 460 chipsets, they really try to make max out of it.
Price is high, but at the same time its probably worlds only company manufacturing and selling PPC desktop boards - and that would be some future (as targeted hardware) for MOS users, too. Shouldn`t be that harsh.
It`s great MOS 3.x will support more hardware, and in the world of limited PPC hardware choices, everyone should be "a target".
Most of the "cursewords" arguments could be used against AmigaOS 4 on Pegasos II, but it turned out to be nice win win combination.
Maybe next time, as usual "when its done"_________________ Future Acube and MOS supporter, fi di good, nothing fi di unprofessionals. Learn it harder way! |

"I know you would want MorphOS supporting ACubes sales but it is not going to happen."
I doubt Vox expects people to buy Sams to run MorphOS (which would equal "MorphOS supporting ACube's sales").
More likely, he thinks that people who already own Sams to run AmigaOS 4 would be tempted to buy MorphOS if it were also compatible.
There *are* some people who use both MorphOS and AmigaOS
I'm not sure the Sam userbase is big enough to justify the port, but in an ideal world, I would like to see MorphOS running on some hardware that is still in production - even if it's not the best choice for the OS - simply because it feels a bit moribund for it to only run on kit that isn't being made any more (a perverse state of affairs, given that it's arguably more advanced and "vital" than AmigaOS). _________________ My new blog |

| I wonder if it will support any of the 12inch powerbooks, as far as i remember the 12" ones used Nvidia graphics so it may be unlikely.
I would love a 12inch powerbook running MorphOS to replace my Acer Aspire one but may consider a 14" powerbook, I'll wait to see what's what after I get my old G4 powermac back and give it a try. (I assume it will run on a 466mhz powermac G4 Digital Audio with a PCI radeon 7500? the only AGP card i have is a Geforce3)

I think the MorphOS team actually knows about G5 and other options. It's just a matter of effort vs. benefit. In an ideal world MorphOS (as OS4) would run on everything plus a cow, but unfortutunately (well, not that unfortunate actually) this is not an ideal world, but rather a world of compromises. |
Like the logic and sense of humor
G5 -> Well, whem something is demoed, and is worhwile of BIG impression (first AmigaOS on G5) it would be good to have it finalized. When time comes.
SAM -> Not many cows left, hope SAMs will be viewed as Amiga Cows when needed.
Good MOS will go to next development cycle and looking forward to see improvements and more hardware supported.

Exactly, same logic as it was with Peg II AmigaOS 4 edition. No one bought Peg II to run it, but Peg II users were quite happy with AmigaOS 4 (those who purchased it)

Exactly, MOS doesn`t support Macs with nVIDIA gfx (nothing that bad, there are no nVIDIA drivers for AmigaOS 4, just AROS, but a fact that makes it unlikely, only if MOS 3 brings nVIDIA drivers) _________________ Future Acube and MOS supporter, fi di good, nothing fi di unprofessionals. As far as Morphos on acube boards that would be cool so you could dual boot. However, there is no way Morphos team is going to waste energy on relatively high priced speciality boards for their OS when they have full Apple laptop and desktop support! Makes zero sense from a time or resource standpoint. |

Morphos isnt going to have Nvidia drivers... not enough docs and resources better spent on newer gen Radeon. |

You are right, now if Morphos had hardware Cairo drivers and Flash support, there would be no real need for Windows/OSX/Linux! Except for specialized applications of course |

yes you are right. That was real momentus news, Are you going to buy the amigaone 500? Cause you don't have a real amiga, only a sam440. Last edited by cheesegrate on 20-Sep-2011 at 07:43 AM.

There are no plans to do any G5 work. It could still happen at some point, but at least for now we're not wasting any resources on that. |
Fair enough. I also noticed mention of updated 3D in Zylsea's post. Is there likely to be any support for nVidia machines or is it more to do with optimizing the existing radeon drivers? I'm sure I saw a video of Quake 3 running on a system supporting GL extensions for vertex lists stored on the graphics card. It was considered experimental then but it was extremely fast._________________ Doing stupid things for fun... |

Yes, bPlan was supposed to be manufacturer, and also G3 expansion cards for Classics were supposed to go out (if recalled correctly) but somehow Amiga Inc and bPlan disagreed and "quick and dirty fix" was contracting existinf Terron design with all its flaws.
Peg2 is very nice and reliable board, even today highly valued and priced. Sad Genesi has stopped production entirely._________________ Future Acube and MOS supporter, fi di good, nothing fi di unprofessionals. Learn it harder way! |

Odd, I have an A1200HD on my desk, yep it's still there it hasn't grown legs and run away, so I guess that's not really an Amiga either, in your ever-so worthless opinion of course.
