Okay so where is this flash chip located? And does this combine UBoot and NVRAM just to be clear? If so it will be a worry to remove UBoot for me!
There is no mention of this in the manual I found online.
I wonder why it would suddenly stop on the NVRAM. |

I'm not certain, but I would have thought so.
If you DO decide to remove the chip, (as I mentioned before) be extremely careful, as it is all too easy to pull the socket up with the chip! Apply opposing force to the brown coloured socket housing at the same time as you pull the chip.
It'd probably be a good idea to remove the battery first.Last edited by raumfahre on 02-Jan-2012 at 05:29 PM.

Okay thanks for the info. Yes I see now the UBoot firmware chip.
Okay, now after reading about that chip that I have read before I'm afraid of taking it out!
I just want to be sure it also contains the NVRAM if I mess with it so have sent contact for info. If it's down to replacing the chip with another one then I can do that when I have a replacement.
I have a friends working A1 who chip I could test but I don't want to pull out his and endanger the board for a test if it goes no where.
@All
I've so far pulled all drives and cables out sans some tower connections and so far have no change.
But I have noticed that my PSU motherboard plug has a burn mark on the hole from the top second left. The PSU was replaced over a year ago now. I will find another to test.
Finally here the complete UBoot log so far:

Yeah thanks.
I already broke a CPU module once and knew about it. I don't know what's broken here. |

| Hi Hypex, What could be wrong? ... the power is getting through and the voltage looks good. The bad news is that my AmigaOne still won't boot! Wonder where that NVRAM is? I wonder why it would suddenly stop on the NVRAM. No IO jump vector is being written in for the OS jump. My theory...
Did you try using a minimum memory config, like 256 MB.

YEah, but unlike many others, hes still a lucky chap, eventually hell be able to get onto the internet with the x1, hahahaha.
What a drag!
Meanwhile he could either borrow one of my systems or simply borrow Merv's system since he doesn't really use his A1, for that matter, almost none of his Amiga's, what a shame. People like him disappoint me in our community, if you have an Amiga, at least use it!!!! Otherwise sell it to someone that will use it is what I say!
My 2 cents worth of rage,

Congratulations.
I have had a couple of episodes like this with my Sam440ep-flex. They were trigered by faulty PCI ethernet cards. The system booted OS 4.1 but froze with an ethernet related error. Same uboot freeze on reboot even with the Ethernet card removed so it appers as if the offending action may have been caused by either Uboot or OS4.1 scrambling something in Uboot due to the error. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did see your thread actually. As to your theory, technically my machine has a jump vector or reset vector work as the machine was starting up in the firmware.
But there was no jump into the OS as it didn't get to that point.
As to the RAM, I had a working 256MB until a PC killed it and a spare 128MB at home. But as you would see was able to test a 1GB stick working and then my own RAM suddenly working.
Now to your machine. I don' think it's a lost cause. If OS4 can load Kickstart off the HD then your machine is in pretty good order. What I agree with is checking the seating of your PCI cards.
Now, usually when OS4 can't get past the Kickstart, it tends to be some NVRAM settings messing it up. Or an incorrect IDE setup.
What I would do is forget that UBoot command line for a while and use the UBoot menu. You can disable onboard IDE from it and set up the boot device. So what I would do (and what I did today infact) is use the menu to restore factory settings.
Then, if you are using your 0680 IDE, use the menu to disable onboard IDE and set your boot deivce to the Sii HD or CD. But first I would try an OS4 CD. Just to make sure your HD isn't stalling the boot with some errors perhaps. |

removing and re-inserting the ram stick, cleaned somehow, a dirty contact/s.
Glad you sorted out anyway!

Thanks
It's strange how it still affected the system even after the hardware was removed! I note it also gave you memory problems. Was that also after removing the card?
I also know the Sam flex doesn't like some VGA cards in the VGA slot. Or OS4 doesn't. |

Haha.
But I already did that. When I stripped it down the first time I took it out and put it back in to test. Still didn't work. |

Yeah, it's funny. I pulled them out and put them back in with no change. And it was only whenb I put in foreign RAM that it started to work.
And of course five minutes before it broke down the machine was on and working. |

Is that your machine? Unstable. That's how my G3 was before I bought a new PSU and set voltage to proper 1.44V. |
