As much as I enjoy the ruminations and word on the availability of the ALICE laptop, I'm surprised that there's nothing mentioned about the A1222.

Is it still languishing?

Well, A1222 is noted in user comment Trevor mentioned.

Let me clarify: mentioned in the context of a status update, not an anecdote.

It would be nice to get a status update on the X5000/40 too.

@TheKorn

Also true... although I suspect after 2 years that the A1222 has become the biggest wildcard.

Yeah, should be fairly straight forward to support the P5040 on the same board already in the wild compared to the Tabor which must be a liability for A-EON if they can't properly support the FPU functions at a high enough speed!

Completely agree with Trevor.

Or could it possibly be that the platform has been spinning aimlessly like a rudderless ship since the demise of Commodore and left with an assortment of inept suitors?

I'm in no way pinning this on Trevor (he's a rarity) but the Amiga has never had a driving force providing leadership and direction and that absence results in the inmates attempting to run the asylum.

Sad, but very true!

The Amiga has not had competent leadership, or management, ever since Commodore bought it and Jay Miner and all the group who invented the Amiga were no longer in control of how it was developed and improved. That happens with most things that are genius when created, but then bought by corporations led by people who have no vision or talent of their own.

October 2017 was one date thrown around earlier this year. Doesn't look like it's going to happen. I think he said "early next year" in one interview on Youtube. It's frustrating because the boards were finished in 2015, but we all know AmigaOS 4 development isn't the speediest...They only managed to get it to actually boot into (a very glitchy) AmigaOS at all in late 2016.
I guess the only reliable answer is it's one day closer than yesterday.

While I do agree with the word war and of course I appreciate the very nice blog post, I think something important is missing here.

Where I come from there is a saying, that if the argument is "for the sky" (which means - for god), then you should follow through with it in the face of adversity. If the purpose of the argument is for your own ego or benefit than you should stop.

I don't think that the amiga conflict is about money but rather people who think they know the amiga's right direction and consider themselves the ones who will finally rescue the amiga from the clutches of all those bad people and finally allow it to shine.

I think that this is exactly the point - they all make a sort of war of principle without seeing the playground or worse - the battlefield or what's left of it. The real issue that is worth pursuing in the face of adversity is to end this war in the benefit of amigaland and all its residents.

@all

To everyone involved either developers, users or Trevor (), it is the time of the year when it's the Jewish new year so have a honey flavored year (an old tradition of ours) and let's hope for a peaceful year in amigaland where we get together and contribute our part in getting the platform to its rightful place. As a user I want to tell every contributer - thank you and your work is very much appreciated. You make me smile.

The Jewish new year? I've heard it all You still use the western calendar though do you? This year it's 2017 anno Domini (AD), do we agree?

Back to the Christian year system: we surely don't have to wait until January to expect the A.L.I.C.E. or the P5040 surely? The Tabor is anyones guess. Shalom

I can't pretend to know much about Jewish culture as most traditional hat and beard dressed in black suits Jews that you see at train stations and in big cities are quite unapproachable and the whole Jewish culture comedian thing that the U.S. has doesn't really exist in the UK. It's a bit weird to be honest as there must be a compareable number of Jews to Muslims in the UK but culturally Islam has a far higher profile (not always for the right reasons ) No excuse for ignorance I know but I find the Messianic Jews quite inspiring. It must be hard to be a Christian in Israel

I'm not even Jewish, and I think that the above quote is very inappropriate and more than a bit offensive! Who cares what calendar Srtest uses, and who are you to question it, or what New Year holiday he chooses to celebrate? Your lame attempt to water down the first part of your post is not an acceptable excuse for bringing it up in the first place.

This is a computer forum, can we please leave all religious comments outside?

Edit: Happy New Year Srtest & Eliyahu and any other members here of the Jewish religion.
