@vox

This just crazy talk.

So Robert is going to install OS4 OpenLinux for 60 USD on a computer that has to be opened and repackage, and then ship it across borders, whit import and export taxes, what do you think it will cost compared to a PC you buy in your local computer store?

Does he even own a computer store, or does he have to go and buy it local computer store at same price as we do?

Are people really that dumb as they are willing to buy a PC, plus work, packaging and installation of a OS, that is comparable to Ubuntu?

It sounds horribly expensive compared to just download a iso and install it on their current PC.

New screenshots on new Icon set and adding panels

i see roberto has lifted icons from both mason and klesterjr for inclusion in his commercial linux product. dare i ask if permission was asked first? sigh.

Dell Optiplex 755

Just a note about that computer:

* When battery fails you can't turn on the computer, unless you replace the bios battery.
* It's really not that fast once you open a web browser whit HTML5 and flash.
* I also believe the model has been faced out, replaced by Dell 990 models, I might be wrong.

and check out the new blurb on the site:

Quote:
We are not in any way affiliated with Amiga Inc. or their operating system product AmigaOS. AmigaOS is developed by Amiga Inc. and is marketed and sold by a third party in the EU for sale with PowerPC hardware. For more information on the AmigaOS and for their product information please go to Amiga Inc. Website

roberto has been around the amiga community for years and knows damn well who develops what and where information can be found. that's it. cribbing the logo, iconset, trying to grab the name, toying with people by announcing one thing and then taking it back, the lie over cloanto, and now this.

once again cgutjahr is proven correct. enough already with this guy.

Guys I love you.. really CUSA pissed me off but this amuses me.
Olaf don't get fooled by beeing too positive.
If someone has something to add to the comunity he should just do it
.
Take AROS:
Why can't they just add something (code) or donate to a bounty.
I mean they should get a few donations from existing "OS4" users or what? Or Enterprise customers : D
Or Educationial organisations : D

Message like "we had a few good runs with AROS" implies they tried the first time and where impressed that Team AROS did already enough to make it work on any Linux distro out there. Seems strange. They got mesa to work.. wow... deadwood did it. Cloanto sells AF and even if you ask you get a way to resell it digitally (like digital dropshiping), nothing special.

Stolen icons, "original" logo. At least CommodoreUSA had proper licence. What a shame.

Hmmm ... as well as playing "green"

We ll see how all this will do on a market, don`t forget you are allowed to download and use it without $60.

As any other Linux out there, or at least most of them.

I think you are correct, irc chat follows.

sundown @ klesterjr: http://www.os4online.com/2013/07/new-screenshots-on-new-icon-set-and.html

klesterjr: Heh, heh -- yeah, I've seen that set -- wonder what it's supposed to look like?

sundown @ klesterjr: the question is, are those guys stealing icons

klesterjr: No -- that's a linux set that looks a lot like Mason's stuff

klesterjr: Not MAson's stuff

sundown: ok

Sounds like OS4 Linux needs to call on DJNick to create some stuff for them.

Muhahaha!
As always.. amusing.

Apple could like that they use their "spaces" icon for "workspaces".
In germany apple has sued a coffee/tea-shop which was called Apfelkind, because they had a apple on their cups but hey apfelkind has won because it wasn't too similar.

OS4 is doomed now. ; ) Crazy. Make my day.

Surely. They will pay in lifetime Amiga Forever licenses on a green PC. With Linux.

Yes I agree with you on that ... I don't like idea of Amiga themed
Linux either ... I think that Linux part should be kept separated from
the Amiga part in this ... Mixing them isn't quite to my liking ;))))

As for the logo changes I can see that noone here understands
the nature of trademarks , how they're created and used ...

Trademarks are the legal equivalent of really hot (and possibly
not so smart) girls , law demands that if you want them you have
to fight for them ... So whenever you see a logo change you can
safely assume that another fire exchange is happening between
lawyers in the heat of the battle. :)

i think i recall mason saying that his icon stuff is actually based on some linux icon set with modifications to adopt to amiga and derivatives, then this might be not a "set that looks a lot like masons" but actually the original set he based his work on. of course it is just a guess, feel free to correct me if im wrong.
