The best tip, though, was the first one I learned, which I was too exhausted to do last night: if you have a computer shipped to you from half-a-world away, take a moment to open it up and gently press all the chips and boards to make sure they haven't shifted during shipping. Now it has stopped speaking French at me randomly. As for the correct wiring, I discovered that the UBoot was visible from one video port, the OS boot was happening on the other. Moving the Radeon driver from Storage to Devices fixed that. In the end, I was able to install Hollywood and Designer, a game or so, and tomorrow, I get to work on the internet, and attack OS4 Depot.
