@klx300r

Usually Geforce cards have poor performance, see here:

https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison

About overheating you should be worried if you set very intensive and aggressive mining params, often you don't need to put those values during normal using.

@dipsomania

interesting chart but what's the most defining factor on that list for best performance?

@klx300r

numer of parallel shaders...

AMD/ATI cards have more shaders, nVidia cards have higher clock rates.

That is why the AMD/ATI cards have better performance.

the more shaders/processing modules thrown at the problem... the faster the hardware can solve the list of options.

as long as managing all those processing modules is capable of handling the number of them.

Just throwing raw speed at the problem doesn't do so much.

@dipsomania

thanks for the info

btw, for the other newbs here, for the miner lines below (whichever you choose for cpu or gpu, the youraddress is your Amigacoin address which you find when you go to the 'Receive' tab in your wallet (which I might add is nicely done by dipsomania so thanks) and the 'x' is a password of your choice.

minerd --url=stratum+tcp://poolamigacoin.org:22113 --userpass=youraddress:x (cpuminer)

cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://poolamigacoin.org:22113 -u youraddress -p x -I 10

must say it seems rather interesting and if you have a spare old PC like many of us amigans do in our mancaves why not put to use with Amigacoin instead of letting it pick up dust

Hello at all,
After a lot of time I have some news:
_ new wallets for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows platform;
_ added a trading site where you can exchange Amigacoins with others crypto-coins (https://www.cryptoaltex.com);
_ added a new pool site (http://aga.obfuscode.net);
_ here (http://cryptotrends.info/AGA/faucet) you can get some Amigacoin for free (or just ask me if you want furthermore free coins);
_ working on AROS version of cpuminer (http://perniolagi.altervista.org/AROS_cpuminer.png) and after I'll try to port the wallet on this OS.

@dipsomania

That is interesting news and congratulations on this achievement. The only issue is where to spend the coins. We would need Amiga Retailers to accept them.

@QuBe

true but I'm sure that will come when more amiga users start mining them so currently it's a catch 22 situation

@klx300r

How will Amiga users mine them? On alt hardware or on an Amiga?

Time to code AmiMiner... release at a demo conference...

I still don't get this whole Bitcoin (and Amigacoin, for what it's worth) hype. I really don't understand how it works and I don't want to either because what's wrong with normal money? Yes, I know what Bitcoin's motive is. Normal money is way easier to use and it works just fine for me.

@Vistaus: You in 1990:

I still don't get this whole Internet hype. I really don't understand how it works and I don't want to either because what's wrong with newspapers and books? Yes, I know what Internet's motive is. Words printed on paper are easier to use and it work just fine for me.

@Vistaus

Coins (yes around 150 of them) are an alternative currency someone may wish to use, some for fun, some to make a few coin themselves by mining and making a profit.

Some people use crypto currency - unsatisfied with the way some currency merchants charge fees or who dont wish to give $$ to greedy banks.

Some people just dont like that big brother can freeze assets, not just the monitory value, but by pricipal.

here are my Nvidia GTX 550 ti settings :

cudaminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://obfuscode.net:3345 -u asymetrix.user -p x

donate to my wallet :)

@Vistaus

Dish Networks in the US has just said they will accept Bitcoin as payment for their services. This is huge, even bigger than the online retailer Overstock.

Interesting to note as well that Bloomberg and Oanda (FX Trading Site) are now quoting Bitcoin too...

Reality is, you will be using Bitcoin as well... eventually - far more convenient than cash and it costs almost nothing to move around! Resistance is futile. In ten years the money and transaction landscape will look radically different.

Now you can be ahead of the curve...

the Amigacoin.org site is temporarily down due to a server issue but the developer is hoping it will be back up shortly.
