@AmigaBlitter

IIRC, originally SCALA on PC ran on it's own "OS", because windows was so inferior for it's needs.

I wonder at what year SCALA became available for windows?

(at least since Windows XP it has been able to playback on/from windows:
http://scala.com/what-operating-systems-are-recommended-for-use-with-scala-5/
At least editor ran already on Win95 it seems: "Scala MM200 is a Windows 32bit native application and therefore only runs on Windows95 and Windows NT 4.0."
Not sure yet when SCALA playback became smooth/sane on top of windows...
In 1996 scala ran on DOS http://www.danielsays.com/ss-gallery-dos-scala-multimedia-mm100-14.html )
