Hi all! The old group has been kickstarted. Our last release was in 2009, so it's been a while. We've made a small webpage and will be working on a few projects the coming months.

Please head over to Homepage of Void to learn more.

We're currently looking for Amiga enthusiasts interesting in either programming (all languages including Hollywood, AMOS, ASM, C), graphics, music, ascii-art and so on. Everyone is welcome!

We have members in the UK, Norway and Greece.

Here's a quick vid of our last prod: Video of Absolute Dølle

Although Im not half as into the demo scene as a lot of people I've always wanted to be involved in making some demos.
Finally got started this year on some tandy coco1&2 demos, which is great fun. Although quite limited audiovisually it is more capable than most people seem to give it credit for (even those who made games for it in it's heyday didnt give it enough credit,..... 4 colors @ 128x192 can yield some ok results).

All that aside though, I must ask, what is a "swapper"? (most people in the list on the Void site are credited as being a "swapper").

@fishy_fis

Cool that you've started work on Tandy Coco demos. :) Sounds fun!

Swapping was basically sending disks back and forth to each other via ordinary mail. A swapper in a group was responsible for spreading productions, but also things like making pack-disks, communicate with other groups and so forth. :) This was a big thing before Internet got widespread and the most common way of getting stuff out there. I used to be a swapper myself for many years and it was a great time. :) Lot of the Void members were swappers back then and that is how many got to know each other. :)

Very cool! To what platform(s) are you planning on releasing to? I would join, but the only thing I'm half decent with is ascii art

I hope Void will make something for either NG Amigas like X1000 or the new Vampire cards

@fishy_fis

"Swapper" is almost the same as a "Pirate" or at least most "Swappers" where "Pirates"

Before the internet there was only one way to get software illegal it was to contact a Demo group, some demo groups sold copies of original software to lammer's, other just gave it away for free.

The swapper was responsible for distribution.

Not everyone spread illegal software, some also spread viruses, because disliked lammer's.

Today most of that illegal activity moved over to distributing thins using torrents, and illegal download sites, and also download site pretending to be legit, speeding repackaged demo software with malware included.

So basely, a "Swapper" is the drug dealer, and a Lammer is the addict, who does not know how make drugs himself.

@NutsAboutAmiga

"Swapper" had not necessarily a negative and bad meaning, many swappers were totally legal, those within the demo scene for example.

@AmigaOldskooler

Our first release in many years is out. It is a small demo pack called "Applejack Pack". It contains several recently released intros. It should work on all Amiga systems with 2 MB of RAM even if the error in the readme says otherwise.

Get the .ADF here:

http://aminet.net/demo/disk/Void-ApplejackPack1.adf

Hope you like it!

PS: We are still open for a couple of new members

@zipper

Hi there! Thanks for the info. You are right. :) The intros does not conform to one specific setup. It's a compilation of recently released stuff. You'll get such errors on such prods outside the pack as well.
