| Im currently stuck in hospital yet again. It sucks, and Im pretty bored, but unexpectedly it revealed a niche for amiga-oid systems that has likely never been considered before......
stopping annoying fad followers from hassling a person to "check out this site", or "check out this youtube clip", or "check out this online game", etc., etc. :)
I have my i5 laptop with me, and the hospital has free wifi. At first a bunch of the younger patients would keep hassling me to check out/look at/listen to (insert fad here). Im a little older, and have been using computers since the dawn of time, and was also a fairly early adopter of the internet (ran my own isp in '93), so most of what younger people consider cool is of little interest to me.
The hounding started to get to me, so I installed AROS, which, granted is considerably more capable than the other amiga derived OSes when it comes to the internet, but as it turns out, it's too "weird" for average Joe Public, so running it stopped a lot of the hassling. These people arent my children, so there's none of that "daddy gets excited by this thing, so I like it 'cos we have fun together with it" thing that younger people/kids can have either.
So there you have it,..... a useful niche for amiga-oid systems  |

Just assorted youtube clips, flash games, "music", and so on.
Generic fad type things.
@Rose
"AROS: Weapon Against Annoying Fad Followers" is more apt.
It's not that Im anti other OSes, I have plenty of other OSes installed (in fact this very laptop has both Windows and QNX installed as well, along with AOS3.9 AND 4.1 F.E running hosted on Windows). It does however get a little annoying when you're trying to do some compiling and people keep saying, "you have to check this out", "you've got to see X", "just quickly, check out this site", and so on.
An alien appearing system seems to put a stop to that for the most part :)
