Well it has been EOLed, is superslow by todays standards, has an odd form factor and limited expansion.
-> checks all boxes for an AmigaOne ! _________________ - We don't need good ideas, we haven't run out on bad ones yet - blame Canada |

Just going by the name ("aaeon") and the domain (Taiwan), I wouldn't take it seriously.

| AAEON != A-EON
Similar name, completely different company. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaeon Quote:
AAEON Technology Inc. was first founded in 1992 in Taiwan.[1] and has expanded globally since, establishing offices in United States, China, Singapore, Germany and the Netherlands.[2] AAEON manufactures and markets a wide range of OEM/ODM industrial PCs worldwide. |

This one looks better. An upgrade path in English. No sign it's over the 400Mhz barrier. |

| @Hypex,
I think I'd rather have an ASUS TinkerBoard.

| I think the mophos mob were rumoured to go intel at next release, guess theyre probably gunna stick to reliable, stable,secure ppc. The good thing is ive not seen ppc in those lists, sweet.

| @Templario No because the company that makes Amiga products is A-EON; not AEON. Similarly, the company that develops OS4 is "Hyperion Entertainment" and not "Hyperion".

Could be. How many millenia have they been operating? A-non EON.
I've heard this story where some Chinese firm making pens created a town called Usa just so they could print "Made in Usa" on the pen and undercut an American company out of business. Apparently Americans are happy to overlook the Usa not being exactly USA for saving of a few bucks. Sad if true. |

Yup. Subdiary of ASUS with 150 Million USD revenue was founded in 1992 to take advantage of NG Amiga market. |

The Amiga and Amiga like operating systems have no security anyway. The idea for MorphOS X64 is to completely break compatibility in order to properly address everything missing such as memory protection and SMP. They can also address this bug before the OS is out the door. |

MorphOS was on the right track by isolating AmigaOS to the A/Box while the Q/Box did all the low level work. I suppose they spent more work on the A/box than getting the Q/Box up to date. Then again if the A/Box sits on top of the Q/Box it would end up like Windows on top of DOS.
In any case as I say now, I never saw why they couldn't just have written a modernised AmigaOS in the first place for OS4. 68K stuff always runs under emulation. So there's no reason why they couldn't have done a fresh start even with a proper OOP API. And added a translation layer for 68K. Given the work involved in forcing the 68K AmigaOS onto PPC, I'm starting to think they should have started afresh with AmigaOS as a base idea to wok off without limitations. Then add the 68K compatibility layer once the native reboot was all working. Last edited by Hypex on 09-Jan-2018 at 06:43 AM.
