Don't panic, i'm sure that it is a driver/kernel issue.

@Duff

It's not necessarily IBrowse's fault or problem. The GX support came in because of the µA1-I models. I didn't know that some of the C models also had one. The support wasn't tested long enough, because all the information I had was that the C model has an FX.

The difference between FX and GX (from the software side) is the larger cache. Exec has different code paths for cache flushing for different CPU's because most of them are incompatible when it comes to L2 cache (the 745x models have hardware cache flush, the 750s require a software cache flush, but in contrast to the 750CXe, the FX/GX have at least some assistance for flushing).

IBrowse will probably load a lot of external binaries, like image decodes, libraries and stuff like that. If the instruction cache is not properly flushed, then a program loading lots of external modules is more likely to fail than one that doesn't do that.

We are currently investigating the problem, and will make a small update available as son as we found the reason.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but frankly, nobody told me that we'd have GX's in the field yet.

@EntilZha

Well sorry for suggesting it was IBrowse although the evidence did point towards it. Anyway least it sounds like a software issue and not hardware which is easy to fix.

I'll blame the OS first next time

@thread

Ok, i've done a 'fresh' install (about 10min ago)
this time i'm useing static IP addressing instead if DHCP, also
i have installed aweb PPC instead of ibrowse.
well it's working quite well i'm useing Aweb to send this post and its
quite fast and (fingers crossed) stable.
i still cant get quake to run, but then again it could be a kernal issue
with my cpu.
this is what cpu says about it:

System: PPC750(G3) (emulated MC68020/FPU) (INST: Cache) (External Cache)

Now i can get on the 'net its time to raid the OS4 depot!

Ive tested Quake (OS4 native) on this new Micro A1 here and it is fine (and very fast even on 1280x1024!); No stability issues so far.

IBrowse however, locks up intermittantly. I have managed to get it to be more stable- I've copied my install from my A1200T and dropped the directory into the AmigaOne. Ive also now installed the TTF fonts pack and used the TTF.library from my A1200T. Although I havent yet worked out the way of using the native TTF support for Ibrowse. It now crashes a lot less frequently (once an hour) and I havent put my finger on what it is yet. I have increased the IBrowse stack and DOS process stack and set Image decoders to External.

I have tested E-UAE and it works without crashes and AmigaAmp works fine, however everytime I go into Config window it freezes the Amiga.

Amidogs Amp movie player is very impressive and plays my Dolby Digital trailers without slow down. Altough the codecs arent as comprehensive as Frogger IMHO.

I would love to try Quake2 OS 4 native but don't know where to get it from (I own Hyperions Quake2 68K). @Hyperion: please email me if you want me to test it out.

@amigakit

eyup... your using your old ttf library... why?

OS4 has TTF support built in, you just need to install the TTF fonts using typemanager... make sure you keep "copy source" selected too..

I have the MSWebFonts package (if anyone wants it contact me privatly) installed and working fine with Ibrowse using nothing but OS4's own internal TTF support...

Hyperion have stated that they'll release their games in AOS 4 native versions but as you can see they are busy with other things right now .

So I guess that it's AOS 4 first and the games for later.

Give all the SDL-games a try instead. They are available at os4depot.net.
