| Well, after the Natami project largely folded, another project came along called TiNA came along which looks like it at least partly picked up from where Natami left off. That is, it's another 680x0-based miniature Amiga clone.
There was some discussion of it over here.
Has there been any news on that lately? Last edited by NomadOfNorad on 12-Oct-2013 at 12:19 AM.

| I got a new job, and cannot contribute anymore to the TINA project. I also stopped contributing to amigacoding.de (even for other reasons). So actually TINA is putting on hold, due to missing an Amiga chipset expert that can coordinate/contribute to the hardware "mapping" and implementation. If someone is interested to cover this fundamental rule, he can propose himself to the team. |

Sounds like a nice project, but to be honest, I would prefer seeing Minimig AGA or RTG with fast 020/030-FPU core then starting new similar to Minimig project from scratch.

It depends on the community. Sorry that I cannot contribute anymore, but it doesn't mean that TINA is dead. It can continue with other people IF there's interest on the project. |

where there is none who can contribute there is no chance. tina was dead to start with, same as anubis and stuff. too bold. to have such a project within reach you have to simplify it, make openly contributable, and have somone dedicated behind. such as majsta with his a600 accel. but even then its uncertain how far this gets. |

| Yes, if there's no one that can contribute, the project can be considered died.
May be the Amiga community is too small nowdays, and not able to support such initiative. |

That is exactly it.. So few developers left that the only thing we get these days are sdl ports of ####ty open source games. |

Its a shame you stopped, you were working full steam a few month ago. I though this project had a chance.
What exactly are the problems you faced ?
Maybe if one created an opensource project with wiki other people could carry on the project rather than starting from scratch again.
I think hiring a developer could have been an option, with donations coming from the community.
The minimig succeed because it had a simple goal.
Thanks for your attempt, so what we the community need is to find an ex Commodore engineer that we can hire who knows about the chipset.
What exactly do we need to achieve this ? _________________ Download 499.26 Mbps, 659.94 Mbps Upload :) |

Games that are already available and runs even better in other platforms... |

It'll, only if other people can manage it.

I had "only" one problem: I cannot contribute with ideas and suggestions to hardware-related projects. My current company operates in this market, and it's better that I stay out.

It can be feasible. Even if TINA had long-term big goals, it has and was planned to start from the Minimig stuff, in fact, adding later AGA and new features, as they come.

No, I don't think so. I wasn't an ex-Commodore engineer, but just a game coder with a good knowledge about the Amiga chipset and some (I believe interesting) ideas on how to implement and make it evolve the platform. |

So Tina is effectively dead?
Another wasted opportunity. |

| Frankly speaking, I don't know. I was part of the team (and still a forum admin), but the project is owned by a company.
Right now I think that to continue with it an Amiga chipset expert is needed. But it's clear that if no one is found, the project can be considered died.
Anyway, it doesn't depend by me. |

as if there was no minimig core that runs happily on number of devices, the problem is everyone tries to develop everything from scratch rather to distribute it. its better that tina and natami are declared dead, no false hopes, no disappointments.

| Then what we need to do is make sure all these projects document all their development so far, that is, they need to publish to the web or to some public repository all the technical schematics so far developed in these previous projects, so that there IS no need to remount from scratch on the next one, they can just build on what's already been done.
Thing is, can we track down another potential chipset expert? Maybe one who's not at the moment paying attention to the Amiga community, but would come if notified of this void left by the current guy leaving the project? Or is this potentially far enough along that maybe we don't need AS expert an expert to take if from here on this current project, with maybe some guidance from other people who each know a little bit about different parts of the Amiga chipset? _________________ "I love peacenicks, they're so easy to conquer." --Ivan J Ironfist, the Dictator |
