| Yeah! I'm glad to see that you've managed to fix the problems, even if I didn't expect to see a release so quickly What was causing the problem you've been telling me about yesterday?
Now finally I'll be able to import all my email from my libero.it account into YAM, there are around 4k messages waiting to be downloaded
Thanks for the effort!

| The list of supported webmail servers is impressive (Hotmail, for example, is supported):

Hi, hopefully this tool will allow me to download my yahoo.co.uk emails again (recently simplemail refuses to).
Must have something wrong tho, it claims you don't need to edit a config file (so I didn't) and just ran the program: Quote:
1.Applications:FreePOPS> stack 300000 1.Applications:FreePOPS> freepopsd -p2000 LUAY: lua stack image: LUAY: stack( 0) : --bottom--
|
As soon as I try and collect my mail the LUAY: message come up and SimpleMail still says that it can't identify the user. server:127.0.0.1 and port:2000. I even added it to the services list in Internet prefs (FreePOPs, tcp, port 2000) with no joy. Any ideas folks? Am I just being dumb?
The log file says: Quote:
ERROR(log_lua.c, 70): (@PROGDIR:lua/yahoo.lua, 429) : Login Failed: Unable to make connection
|
EDIT: I forgot to mention that it asks me to insert volume dev in any drive. No idea why!
EDIT: problem fixed!!!! Open internet prefs under services add FreePOPS port 2000 and make it udp (not TCP) and it works! Thanks afxgroup! Why does it ask for dev by the way? GiGaLast edited by giga on 28-Dec-2005 at 06:21 PM. Last edited by giga on 28-Dec-2005 at 06:11 PM.

| I am trying it with YAM. I got the same error first. Then I typed the whole email address as UserID. This solved the error message problem.
I think FreePOP uses that last part of address to figure out what plugin to use.
I haven't been able to download anything though. The connection with hotmail seems ok, emails on server get listed. Then, Yam pretends it's downloading, but nothing appears in my inbox after that!

PS: I think it's hotmail's fault. Yahoo! worked OK after a few attempts. Thanks for the VERY useful program. Now I can check my Yahoo and Hotmail accountr without needing a PC (or Linux). Last edited by firbodi on 28-Dec-2005 at 07:07 PM.

| you should run freepops without any param if you want to bind the port 2000 and you cannot run with roadshow because it already start as a daemon. So add it on your startup sequence _________________ http://www.amigasoft.net

| The /dev thing is because it tries to open /dev/null or /dev/urandom or similar (most likely) which are POSIX file paths pointing to special files that really are devices in a POSIX environment.
The application itself has probably been compiled using a special hack in clib2 that automatically translates POSIX paths like this to its corresponding Amiga path eg. /dev/null => dev:null
Hence it asks for DEV: ;) _________________ Nicolas Mendoza
