Miscellaneous News   Miscellaneous News : Phoenix project and Acube Systems Srl announce their cooperation.
   posted by Sneaky on 19-May-2007 8:30:46 (6655 reads)
Haven't seen it yet. Got it per Mail and is on the ACube Website too:

Bassano del Grappa - Italy - 19 may 2007:
Phoenix project and Acube Systems Srl are happy to announce their cooperation.

Phoenix project is a non-profit team of Amiga developers aiming to port various free or dismissed applications or games to Amiga OS4. Current ongoing projects include Firefox, Emperor, VLC, Transmission and others.

ACube Systems, in its continuous effort to support Amiga community and developers, will provide the team svn repositories and development machines where needed.

The team is at work collecting sources of dismissed Amiga applications and free software to convert them to OS4. The resulting conversions will be released for free to the Amiga community.

If you are a developer and you would like to take part to the Phoenix Project please contact us at andrea@amigasoft.net and we will give you all the information to join the team.

It would probably be better to get Sputnik working on OS4 before Firefox IMHO!

@all

This Firefox release is not impossible, expecially because is for X11
By the way, this port can help the Amizilla developers too.

Why bad? I think the founders are more towards "dismissed" application being raise from the dead (from ashes, like mythical phoenix). Porting Linux, useful stuff is just another branch of their activity, not necesseraly main...

Mrodfr : And make these boards running with OS4 !

mailman : Just bad because every project in the world that create something from zero or make something born again is called phoenix.
But the really important point is they group developers and save software !
