Software News   Software News : Icaros Desktop 2.1 has been released
   posted by paolone on 13-Mar-2016 23:04:57 (2150 reads)
The latest version of AROS distribution Icaros Desktop has been released. V2.1 consolidates the 2.0.x codebase with many bugfixes and additions, above all a new version of OWB supporting HTML5 videos (YouTube.com and others). This release also includes handlers for NTFS-3G and exFAT partitions, and can now access (in read-only mode) your Google Drive account, simplifying its configuration with a dedicated Prefs tool (coded in LUA by Icaros team).

How do you install the iso in a USB stick to boot from it?

Thx

@Kamelito

There's multiple ways to do it, but one of the easier ways is to use something like Virtualbox. Disable the USB device under the host, but enable it as a USB device under VB.
Boot the VM, then install to the USB device.
The USB device will then be bootable on any system.
This even helps get the system to boot on some systems that won't boot from an iso/CD/DVD.

@Kamelito

I'm sure this will help you
http://vmwaros.blogspot.it/2014/11/installing-icaros-from-usb-pendrive.html

kind regards and thanks for your interest in Icaros Desktop.

Addition: You may also download the manual from Icaros Desktop's website and follow instructions from page 32 (on this release). You may also need to read preceeding chapters to understand how to clean a USB pendrive and format it the right way.
