Hasteroids & GLFX Library for Hollywood |
| Software News posted by Allanon on 11-Feb-2018 9:55:23 (1518 reads) |
I'd like to release a status update about one of my work called GLFX.
What is GLFX? GLFX is a library for Hollywood that make use of the GLGalore plugin which uses OpenGL to speed up graphics, the library is game-oriented meaning that it includes several objects, methods and functions to code your games without worrying about OpenGL complexity.
It features a sprite system, particle systems, animations, collisions, paths, scenes, events and more. It's not yet completed but it's in an advanced state, so advanced that I'm writing a game to demo it : the demo is a simple Asteroid remake called Hasteroids, you can view a demonstration video here :link to YouTube video. Graphics is not mine, it has been taken from Internet and will be replaced before the public release.
The game will be published for free when completed as well as the source code but if you want to play with the current state of the game and the GLFX library you can support me to have access to the source code of the game, the GLFX library and all what's needed to run it, since it's a source code, you need Hollywood to execute or compile the game or your own programs. Subscribers can also actively partecipate in the development asking for features to add, and accessing development builds.
GLFX Compatibility? GLFX is compatible with any system for which the GLGalore plugin has been published (almost all systems), please refer to the Hollywood download page to check if your system is included.
"Thank You!" Thanktro Recently I've also published a demo I made for Pascal Papara to thank all his backers on Kickstarter campaign about the IndieGO! project. You can see a video on YouTube, here is the entry on Pouet.net where you can leave a comment and download the Windows version, in the next days I will also publish the executable for the other platforms This demo features another library I made called DEng, short for Demo Engine, and it does not require any external plugin because it uses only Hollywood native command set, it can be slow on machines with a weak CPU but it is capable of very nice effects with very little efforts. Source code of the demo and all its dependancies is available for Patrons.
If you like what I do support me on Patreon!
LINKS Documentation Wiki & Downloads Hollywood forums thread Patreon page for those people interested to support my work and to download the sources
Happy coding!

With all the disk-imaging going on the past weeks with the Bamiga Sector One collection and others, Steffest ( from http://www.stef.be/bassoontracker/ ) made a quick online tool to check if an ADF file is already in TOSEC or not. Yes, of course there's ADF Workshop and ClrMamePro that does all this and heaps more but not everybody wants to install obscure software and install a HUGE pile of .dat files just to check if a disk is already known.
So: A simple tool for a simple task. You can find it at : http://www.amigaclub.be/tosec/
Just drag-drop a bunch of adf files on the disk and it wil tell you if your disks are among the 80.000 ones in TOSEC. As an added bonus you can click on a disk to browse it, view files in ascii and hex and download files straight from the ADF image. It's like a TOSEC enabled mini ADF Opus in your browser! Open Source and all. If you find a bug or have any feature requests: let him know.
Enjoy!

a1k.org-Team PRESENTS an Interactive Binary Illusions PRODUCTION
Three months after the release of the German language version of "Flight of the Amazon Queen" for Amiga computers, the Italian version has been released!
"Flight of the Amazon Queen" takes you with Faye Russel and Sparky into the jungles of the Amazon to solve puzzles, to free Princess Azura and to prevent Dr. Eisenstein from creating a dinosaur army.
As in the German version, not only the dialogues from the DOS version were taken over in this version, but also faulty and wrong translations, typos and unsightly versions of the DOS version were corrected and also almost all English texts in the pictures were replaced by Italian ones.

28.1.2018 ********* Amiga Future: cheats database Update
The cheats database of Amiga Future is updates weekly by David Jahn, even at first sight if it is not immediately apparent.
The cheat database on the Amiga Future webpage is probably the biggest German collection for the Amiga.
This is not just about cheats. Many solutions, tips and tricks, as well as Freezer addresses can be found in this collection.
Meanwhile you can find more as 3400 Games Cheats and solutions in the database, and there is always more.
The database is currently completely in German. If we receive enough donations for the website, we have planned to integrate a proper online database, which will also be available in English.

Work on Tower57 continues, hints at powerful hardware in the Amiga Tabor |
| Amigaworld.net News posted by Petah on 28-Jan-2018 15:08:40 (3221 reads) |
As development of the Amiga Tabor continues, so does the work on the Kickstarter-funded and Chaos Engine-inspired arcade shooter Tower57. In a development update posted on Tuesday, developer Daniel Mussener hints that the latest benchmarks shows that the Amiga Tabor has a lot more muscles than its critics previously has given it credit for. The figures pretty much speak for themselves, Mussener reasons, as the Tabor allegedly blows most of its competition out of the water.

Like the graphics show and as Mussener emphasizes, the Tower57 build benchmarked on January 23rd running on the Tabor outperforms the Sam460ex by almost 100% when running in truecolor mode at 59 frames per second. Although that figure doesn't stand much chance against the Amiga X5000 workstation (running at 110 FPS), Mussener stresses that Tower57 on the Amiga Tabor runs at speeds more than twice as fast as it does on a Sony Vaio (laptop) with an Intel i5 CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz despite the Amiga version being, at least for the time being, fully rendered in software.

The most recent progress is reported to involve further optimization, with improved visual effects, procedural trickery and reduced loading times. At the time of writing, a firm Tower57 release date is yet to be set - Mussener does, however, target "early Q1 2018". If that promise holds water, expect to see Tower57 at your favorite Amiga retailer imminently. The release date of the Amiga Tabor itself, however, remains at this point unknown.

We seem to have a problem with news articles being submitted and then getting stripped of all of the text except for the article title.
AndreasM seems to have found the issue and it appears to be the use of certain characters:
"but i found the problem. its are the german ue ae oe... i change the word to Schuetze and then works i think the textbox need an update. :)"
Right now I have I have two such articles from Petah ("Work on Tower57 continues, hints at powerful hardware in the Amiga Tabor") and what looks like a spam one from websiteshoppy.
While this issue persists, please type your articles in clear English and save a copy of the text in case you need to resubmit. I'll let people know by PM if they have fallen victim to this bug.
