Aminet needs help: searching for freely distributable Amiga magazines |
| Amigaworld.net News posted by cgutjahr on 10-Feb-2016 15:31:45 (2354 reads) |
A lot of older freely distributable software is still missing from Aminet. Some of it is preserved nicely on Public Domain disks or CD compilations easily available on the web - but a lot of it is rotting away on private hard disks, old, unmaintained ftp servers or forgotten websites. The Aminet team has been collecting dormant software and quietly adding it to the collection for nearly a decade now. Hunting down software is a rather time consuming process though, and many things can no longer be tracked down easily.
Our current focus is freely distributable magazines - diskmags, ASCII newsletters, free PDF documents - you name it, we want it. We have compiled a list of all the titles we have (note that not all of these are available for download yet), as you can see we're still missing a lot of these releases.
If any of you collectors out there can provide us with missing information or even supply some of the missing releases, we'd be very glad to hear from you.

Hello dear fellows Amigans!
It took to me some amount of time to understand how to create Bounty on BountySource and I must first join Deadwood Odyssey Web Browser project on GitHub, in order to create an official ISSUE report, but at least I succeded.
(Without official issue report from developers site, BountySource does not start any bounty! Strange but true!)
Now Bounty is Open!
https://www.bountysource.com/issues/30646188-odyssey-web-browser-solve-ppc-webkit-javascript-engine-endianess-problems-inherited-from-webkit-x86
This is truly a call to arms for all us Amigans!
Donate to let developers being awarded for solve all endianess issues that afflict PPC Odyssey Web Browser Webkit Javascript Engine.
A browser flawlessly working is necessary condition to let PPC processors continue being used as productive desktop machines!
I created the bounty and just starting collecting money by donating the first 10 US$.
Now it is up to you to let our platform survive!
Donate! Donate! Donate!

Former Commodore UK Bosses David Pleasance and Colin Proudfoot Join FriendUP |
| Amigaworld.net News posted by danwood on 3-Feb-2016 16:45:46 (6608 reads) |
The two former joint managing directors of Commodore UK have joined the new Amiga-inspired FriendUP platform.
After first meeting the Friend team at Amiga 30 in Amsterdam, both have been very impressed with the project and agreed to join as senior managers in the company. Colin is now CFO, with David becoming Director of International Sales and Marketing.
David and Colin were once the favourites to purchase the entire Amiga technology, after the downfall of Commodore in 1994. 21 years later, this is the first time the pair have worked together since Commodore.
FriendUP is a next generation web application technology for connecting users and developers to resources in a unifying way. The first product is an open source application called the Friend Unifying Platform, and takes many design decisions and concepts from the Amiga OS.
David Pleasance and Colin Proudfoot have recorded an interview with Dan Wood on Youtube, to explain why they wanted to be involved.
