software Classic   AmiModRadio v0.99997
  software Classic posted by tygre on 29-Jan-2023 18:28:14 (848 reads)
Hi all!

I'm happy to release AmiModRadio, v0.99997! It fixes fixes bugs #84 and #126, which means that AMP is now a new source, with another 100,000 modules available! It also includes some cleanup of the code to simplify and strengthen it. The lists of directories/files (when available, depending on the source) now work as you'd expect.

As usual, it can be downloaded, along with its source code:

- Via HTTP, on my Amiga Web server :D;
- Via HTTPs on Aminet of course :);
- Via HTTPs on BitBucket;
- Via HTTPs on SourceForge.

Please contribute by asking for features, reporting bugs, or offering other translations!

Cheers!

Amigaworld.net News   Server will be down Saturday the 21st of January from midnight UK time (1 am CET
  Amigaworld.net News posted by sibbi on 20-Jan-2023 9:02:30 (1331 reads)
Hi,

We've experienced multiple hardware lockups in the last month and I've issued a request to Server4You to run a full hardware check (which takes about 4-6 hours) at midnight UK time (1 am CET) on the morning of Saturday the 21st

The site will be unavailable from midnight UK time (or 1 am CET) and until early in the morning for this reason.

We apologize for the inconvenience

Edit: So that went well...In the end, after multiple rounds of crashes it was discovered that CPU 2 had a level 1 cache error which was causing the server to lockup randomly, even in Recovery mode. After that was eventually fixed with a spare server (motherboard probably the culprit) the mirrored RAID was in a state which needed quite a bit of sorting.

It's taken me a bit of time after I managed to fix that to get the server booting again, different network card which needed different settings and some other minor variations which caused the server not fully boot to a ready state. Unfortunately I don't have console access to the server, just remote, so taking the server in and out of recovery mode and trying again is a slow and inefficient way to go about this, so I'm sorry for all the time this has taken. Let's hope we're back.

hardware OS4   Sam460LE updates
  hardware OS4 posted by elwood on 19-Jan-2023 22:05:43 (858 reads)
Dear customers,

We have sent out as many boards as we could prepare.

Unfortunately, we received from our suppliers some faulty Ethernet controllers and therefore some boards failed the stress tests.
This will create a delay in the delivery of the remaining Sam460LE.

The replacement Ethernet controllers will arrive in mid-February, after Chinese New Year.
Again, we will perform our extensive testing because we would rather not release a poor product.

We apologize for yet another delay caused by companies that do not play fair.
We will keep you informed.

Thank you.
The ACube Systems Team

News   25 years of Amiga Future
  News posted by AndreasM on 18-Jan-2023 11:32:02 (1047 reads)
Just about 25 years ago the first edition of Amiga Future saw the light of day. In that era, the Amiga Future was still published for sale via newsagents, and high-street magazine retailers as a special issue produced by ICP-Verlag. Since issue 27, the Amiga Future magazine has been created and distributed entirely by just our editorial team, and since issue 67 Amiga Future has been available as both German and English editions.

When the magazine was founded, 25 years ago, the Amiga Future was intended solely for the games market, as hardware or applications featured only a small section in it. However, this has changed significantly over the last few decades, and now all aspects related to the Amiga are dealt with in our magazine. Occasionally there are topics that seem to have little or nothing to do with the Amiga, but that is usually quite rare and is likely to remain so in the Amiga's future!

Actually, our 25 year anniversary is worthy of being celebrated in a big way, but we don't have the means to do that, let alone the time. You see, we're not a big publisher, so we've decided to spread our anniversary celebrations throughout the year.

So, we have a fantastic raffle with many and varied prizes to be won in our current issue. There will also be various background articles featuring the Amiga Future over the next few issues, along with other ideas that we are likely to implement later on, during this year.

Our Android news app is back working again. The new version is still at a beta stage, but progress is being made. If everything goes well, the app will be much improved and more extensive than ever before. We recommend that all users of the Android app always download the latest updates from the Playstore and regularly check the app's settings for improvements.

We are currently working on issue 161 of the Amiga Future, so lots of updates are being planned for our homepage.

The article database is to be expanded yet further this year, and all issues of the Amiga Joker are to be integrated on our website (PDFs are already online) with many sold-out issues of the Amiga Future also due to be accessible on it. In addition, a plethora of full versions are still waiting for publication on the Amiga Future webpage.

Of course, our goal this year is to increase our number of new readers and subscribers as much as possible. That would mean wider circulation and as a result more pages could finally be made possible for us all to enjoy even more.

In any case, we want you to be able to enjoy reading our content for many years to come. :)

Andreas Magerl

News   Amiga Future: Old Amiga Joker issues as PDF online
  News posted by AndreasM on 13-Jan-2023 12:08:54 (962 reads)
All old issues of the Amiga Joker are now available as PDF free of charge in the download area of the Amiga Future webpage.

https://www.amigafuture.de/app.php/dlext/index?cat=32+

The project started in 2009 (yes, really 2009!) on the A1k forum. The project has seen many interruptions and delays and has certainly been completely forgotten by some of those involved.

But now all issues are finally scanned and online.

The A1K users AMIPEGUSER, echo, evil, Lomaxx and Tracer were involved in the project. I hope nobody was overlooked.

Currently we are still looking for someone who can create an index of all articles of the Amiga Joker editions.

In the course of the year all articles should also be entered into the Amiga Future article database.

In the Amiga Future article database you can currently read around 5,000 articles online: https://www.amigafuture.de/app.php/kb/index

The Amiga Joker 2017 and Amiga Joker 2019 are of course still available in our online shop:

software OS4   New version 1.7 of AmiCygnix available
  software OS4 posted by CygnusEd on 11-Jan-2023 10:39:32 (1028 reads)
The version 1.7 brings some innovations around the topic "start of external programs" (remote start).
In addition, a Unix shell and an Amiga shell adapted to AmiCygnix are now available.
By the complete revision of the utility library "libaos4util" for AmiCygnix some bugs have been fixed again.
The addition of the coreutils package also removes some dependencies on the OS4 SDK.
