software OS4   For the Next Week, 25% of ZitaFTP Server Sales to be Donated to RNOXfer Author
software OS4 posted by Hans on 6-Apr-2020 8:43:26 (1573 reads)
Thanks to RNOXfer, we finally have a secure FTP client for AmigaOS to complement ZitaFTP Server.

ZitaFTP Server's usefulness was somewhat limited due to the lack of a secure FTP client for AmigaOS. This obvious lack is no more, so you can now perform secure FTP transfers between Amigas (and other OSes too).

As a thank you for RNOXfer, 25% of every ZitaFTP purchase for the next week (up to Tuesday 14 April 2020) will be donated to RNOXfer's author.

Click here for the official announcement.

software OS4   Revised versions of AbiWord 2.8.6 and Gnumeric 1.10.17 for AmiCygnix released
software OS4 posted by CygnusEd on 2-Apr-2020 19:07:41 (1433 reads)
AbiWord is a wordprocessor, which supports a wide range of file formats.

Gnumeric is a spreadsheet, which is similar to Microsoft Excel and is part of the Gnome Office Suite like the text processor Abiword.

New in this release:
  • Because of a bug in both packages, charts could not be created or edited in Gnumeric tables. Fixed now.
AbiWord is able to integrate Gnumeric tables.
  • Program relinked with the latest libraries.
  • Various minor optimizations.

software Classic   Update of the Amiga Games List
software Classic posted by Daff on 1-Apr-2020 5:52:42 (1063 reads)
The Amiga Games List, document created and maintained by David Brunet since 1991, was updated the 1st April 2020 with its 50th edition.
The total reaches now 13 048 games, level editors, data disks, extensions and interpreters subdivided into the categories as follows:

    12 468 games
    330 extensions and data disks
    147 game and level editors
    103 interpreters

The great improvement of this new edition is that the list is now displayed as a database. Thanks to Sébastien Jeudy,
there are new functions like sorting the columns (ascending and descending), a new button "ALL" to view the whole list, and
the real-time calculation of the statistics. There are also others minor additions and corrections in this 50th edition, as always.

Events   Commodore Los Angeles Super Show (postponed)
Events posted by RobertB on 20-Mar-2020 21:51:37 (1504 reads)
After discussion with the booking person of Toolbox LA and in light of the ever-moving dates of Covid-19 closings in the area, I am postponing the Commodore Los Angeles Super Show 2020 which was scheduled to be on April 25-26. I appreciate that Toolbox LA is willing to change the contract that I signed, and other dates later in the year have been offered. I will discuss this with members of the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network and get their input. Then a new weekend will be chosen.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this.

    Truly,
    Robert Bernardo

software Classic   Tiny little Slug released by APC&TCP
software Classic posted by AndreasM on 11-Mar-2020 13:02:05 (1451 reads)
Tiny little Slug is released today for the Amiga and can now be ordered in the Online Shop at APC&TCP.

This Classic Amiga game is available either on CD, floppy disks or as a download file.
A basic Amiga 500 is sufficient to enjoy playing it, though more expanded 68k Amiga systems or a CD32 are also supported.

Climb like a snail on walls and ceilings to find the strawberry.
As well as the standard difficulty level there's also a slightly easier playing option.
For true snail veterans you can play in 'Salty' mode.
The game is based on the Metroidvania genre. Find artifacts in four thematically diverse worlds and gain new skills to overcome obstacles.

However, Tiny Little Slug takes a different approach to its opponents, as you can't harm them, so you have to work out how to outwit them.
Three big end bosses are waiting for you. Redirect their own power against them.

Tiny Little Slug even has its own homepage which can be accessed at http://tls.apc-tcp.de.
The game supports storing high scores on floppy disk, on the NVRAM of the CD32, on your hard disk and also online.

    Compete with other players worldwide.

Tiny Little Slug was created by André Zeps, XplrA and Thomas Boisse and is released worldwide through APC&TCP.
