hardware OS4   hardware OS4 : Interest in the Amiga Tabor surges as AmigaKit sells out A-EON's AAA bundle
   posted by Petah on 23-Jan-2020 13:48:18 (2961 reads)
Hot on the heels of 10+ Minute Amiga Cast's highly anticipated interview with A-EON's head honcho Trevor Dickinson, the UK-based Amiga retailer AmigaKit has announced that the A-EON AAA bundle completely sold out on January, 22nd. While the bundle includes both some basic hardware (such as an Amiga.org branded mouse) and software (like ImageFX and the Enhancer 2.0 software suite), it is essentially meant to serve as a way of letting interested Amiga users get first dibs on A-EON's upcoming Amiga Tabor - a brand new, PowerPC-based Amiga meant to serve as a cost reduced way of getting onboard the next generation of Amiga computers.

In an updated FAQ entry, it is stated that every single owner of the AAA bundle will get the chance to sign up for a Tabor motherboard as part of the Early Adopter Program. Early adopters are promised a "special introductory offer price" that is yet to be announced. Shipping of the ~100 units that are part of the AAA bundle offer will, according to the launch plan, start in Q2, 2020. After an undisclosed period of time thereafter, the Amiga Tabor is expected to be available to the general public.

it is a little strange that users here publish news that sound like official authorized news

Where do you have your informations?

Where do you have "price yet to be announced"?

@OlafS25

Yep. It's a new fad where users speak for the policy of parent companies. Very popular.

@Amigakit

Maybe since Amigaworld and Amiga.org are your websites you could just add a banner that
links to your A1222plus site to avoid further confusion.

That's me: general public. I have an undisclosed sum of money to spend on such things.

Maybe they can update the main A-EON site as well. It has the look of having been abandoned years ago, which doesn't inspire confidence, especially in the Amiga community.

And then there were three...

Update: I'd really like to edit this *existing* post to express my displeasure on how bad the forum software is, but that will probably result in a fifth post. I'm just going to say, "and it did" ahead of time so I can stop now.

@bison

This bug is very long lived

I've fixed various incarnations of it in the modules but it keeps coming back with a vengeance because the Xoops BB code is a big mix of spaghetti from various people and code re-use is not all that common so the same bug crops up in different places, and even sometimes behaves differently based on user settings.

Thanks to you however I have found the issue with the news comments, and fixed it since I was able to reproduce the problem from your posts

A Eon now must give to Amiga shops righst for same bundles to incrase the volume and decrase cost of production.
Batch of 100-150 boards is mistake.
Board+bundle 550 euros and thats the deal for all.
No more marketing mistakes please.
