8-bit Symphony
Events posted by _Steve_ on 17-Nov-2018 19:03:53 (1514 reads)

8-Bit Symphony concert box office opens at 10am today. Thanks for your part in making it happen: it started right here!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le6XYyIJ9Wg
So, this is essentially a live performance of around a half of the box-set (they use the same orchestrations, so work done on the concert is work done on the box-set).

You can get tickets at: https://www.hulltheatres.co.uk/events/8-bit-symphony

Imagine sitting in a plush hall, familiar faces here and there, looking at an orchestra as big as the one that recorded Star Wars... then they start to play Comic Bakery... then build into a giant Ocean Loader that makes you proud to be there (this track is still NotePerformer WIP)

90+ minutes later, you're stunned by a succession of hits like Monty on the Run, Ghosts and Goblins, The Last Ninja®, Firelord, and more.

If you're already coming, check in at https://www.facebook.com/events/323411458475494/ and share the event: this is the biggest thing C64 music has ever done.

software OS4   New software release by OnyxSoft
  software OS4 posted by Deniil715 on 16-Nov-2018 20:36:34 (1300 reads)
OnyxSoft releases a an update to MPlayer-GUI with some enhancements, and tested with the latest MPlayer by MickJT.

MPlayer-GUI v1.61 - (OS4) GUI for MPlayer for OS4.

- More aggressive skip loop filter setting, to make H264 less painful. Can actually play 720p 60fps H264 material from my action camera now :)

- When clicking the Next button to play the next video, it tries a hundred numbers before giving up. Over there are gaps in the numbers, like pictures in between, or clips removed.

- Fixed mplayer unable-to-pause using the 'p' button. Now not calling arexx command getTimePos when Control Panel isn't open.

- "Fixed screen title." it says in the change log..? The Control Panel shows the path of the current video.

- It has also been tested with the latest (as of 2018) version of MickJT's mplayer.

If you see a bug or have a suggestion, please don't hesitate to drop me an e-mail!

Announcement   NOTICE TO ALL USERS: Update Your Account Password
  Announcement posted by Amigaworld.net on 10-Nov-2018 11:57:53 (2790 reads)
ALL USERS PLEASE READ IN FULL - IMPORTANT SITE INFORMATION

It has recently been reported by a dozen users here that they have received spam emails citing their actual password and names and trying to exhort bitcoin payment from them.

Some of these passwords in the spam email are the same as used here for their AmigaWorld user account login.

Our System Administrator has checked the AmigaWorld.net server and so far found no evidence of a data breach. However, despite the high standards are security for the AmigaWorld.net server, we are continuing to take these reports very seriously and have already put in process some measures to enhance security.

The password database encryption has been updated. When any user logs in next, you will receive a brief message confirming that your password has been updated to the higher level of encryption.

Additionally we will be introducing a new mandatory standard for passwords shortly:

- minimum of one upper case character
- minimum of one number
- minimum of eight characters

It is come to our attention that some users here have not upgraded their password in many years.

We would ask all users to do the following with immediate effect:

* change your password immediately to the new standard above
* select a secure password that is truly unique to AmigaWorld.net - do not reuse password previously/currently used on other websites.

Any questions or reports should be made privacy@a-eon.co.uk as per this websites privacy policy.

Internet News   New Amiga X5000 blog
Internet News posted by mdr on 5-Nov-2018 17:14:30 (1832 reads)
I'm an old Amigan who has just taken the plunge and jumped into the exciting world of next-gen systems with my new X5000. I've started recording my experiments on my blog at http://www.markround.com/amiga/. I know there's some great blogs and a lot of information about next-gen systems already but thought my take on the X5000 as an old Amigan returning to the scene may be of interest, and might help others decide to join the fun! There's already two articles written so far, and I'll be adding to it as I go along and discover new things. Hope you enjoy!

Amigaworld.net News   AmiModRadio v0.9992
Amigaworld.net News posted by tygre on 5-Nov-2018 2:19:49 (1008 reads)
Dear all!

I am happy to release a new version v0.9992 of AmiModRadio after these long months of silence! :)

You can take it from here, here, or here.

This new release includes three improvements: three visible, one invisible... You can now access the modules from FireHawk at http://mod.haxor.fi/ (thanks!) (bug #93), update AmiModRadio using AmiAutoUpdater (bug #40), and save your modules (again) without crashing... Invisibly, the logging is better and should allow for more useful messages (bug #62)... Enjoy! :D

As usual, bug reports are always welcome here!

Cheers!
