Rocks!

BTW, what is the name of that font. I cannot find one that matches.

If that's the one for the current Amiga logo, then it would be a "modified Bodoni" font. The latest logo was created by FrogDesign, and they changed the font called Bodoni a bit to make it.

The previous Amiga logo was Garamond, bold and italicized. That's the one which went well with the rainbow checkmark. The curved one, I don't know what they used.

very nice background, would have been nicer if the font had used anti-aliasing around the edges though, however it is still a very nice background

I don't use special fonts for Amiga logo, just a .gif picture found on Aminet.

I have a version of the font which I found on a free font site somewhere (took me ages to find it.) If you like PM me and I'll email you a copy. To make it the same as the logo you need to modify it, as EyeAm said.

Could you post a variation with the boing ball above the text?

This would make a great grill on the front of a new High End Amiga system. Black grill, chroma Amiga name and a boing ball.
