| First Workbench after 5 years away! | Description: Had my Sam 440ep flex (OS4.1 update 2) for just over a week now and loving it (for the most part) so far!
Last Amiga was a microA1 with early OS4.0 which I sold on about 5 years ago. Things have moved on nicely since then and OS4.1 is a treat.
Favourite Workbench 4.1 features so far: + show .info files option in window menu + new view by name set up is great, especially when working with mp3s +Ringhio + default theme and window transparency (nice without being OTT) + icons are the best ever, beautiful +power on to google search page time is amazing (so quick!)
Not so sure about: - context menus (turned off in WBStartup, seemed a bit clunky and unnecessary, would rather see standard WB menu further enhanced - prefs drawer is a bit confusing and could do with some prefs being integrated, e.g. AHI and Sound, Printers - some stuff seems redundant, like Picasso96 prefs, PlayCD (TuneNet better and included anyway) - WBPattern, doesn't scale and keep asect ratio of backdrops which is annoying with a widescreen display
Favourite programs so far: + OWB is fantastic, I actually prefer to Firefox (apart from lack of flash), really nice feel and fast + TuneNet + DvPlayer + Celestia, very cool and filling a hole since Wonders of the Solar System series finished on the BBC + ADRipper is great for making mp3 files from CDs + SimpleMail, always used YAM in the past but thought I would try for a change and so far so good

| New Amiga after 5 years away - 1/3 | Description: My new Sam440ep flex setup. First of three pictures I took as a quick of test my Sony camera with OS4.1 and LoView (downloaded from os4depot). The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S730 works well with OS4.1. Camera drive appears on Workbench almost instantly and on first attempt unlike with my Dell laptop where it's always been hit and miss whether it will connect or not.
LoView is nice as a photo viewer, lets you rotate images which is handy and save into diferent formats, with option to reduce jpeg quality (good for uploading images to websites or email). LoView also does fullscreen slidshows with optional mp3 soundtrack.

| New Amiga after 5 years away - 2/3 | Description: My new Sam440ep flex setup. Second of three pictures I took as a quick of test my Sony camera with OS4.1.
Keyboard is an Emprex USB chiclet keyboard, picked up from Amazon UK. Mouse is a generic and very cheap cordless model from eBay (Chinese seller), USB Inspector reports vendor as SONiX, works great with wheel and middle button supported too. Monitor is an AOC 936SWA 19" also from eBay and a bit of a bargain at £70 new including delivery.

| Picture Transfer Protocol on AmigaOS 4.1 | Description: The OS4.1 PTP window and Quake 2 running in a window.
To use PTP on OS4.1 change your camera's USB setting to PTP and plug in. I've always used mass storage mode in the past, but I was pleasantly surprised how well PTP works on OS4.1. The preview window comes come almost instantly (with thumbnails) when the camera is plugged in and copying photos over seems faster than working with the usual mass storage. PTP also has a few extra menu items, like format, which are handy. Camera used is Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S730.
Capehill's Quake 2 port running in the other window, enjoying this great game for the first time! http://capehill.kapsi.fr
