@dolphine

i've reduced the available memory up to 64Mb to test low memory on my µA1 and haven't got any problems with it.

It's safe to say that BBRV did NOT say anything about OS4 in his post.
So...asking "how well WOULD" is applicable, "how well DOES" is NOT.

Even if you were to get a judge to transfer 'Pegasos rights' to the Efika, the original court case/mess doesn't imply anything more than DE running on the Pegasos. Additionally, nor does it specify an OS that it must run under. DE/AA running on a version of PPC Linux that happens to run on Efika, would likely satisfy the courts, to the letter of the judgement.

And as usual, rather than making a clear statement, you leave enough details out by avoiding saying 'OS4 will run on,' or 'AA/DE is being pursued,' to leave people to make their likely wrong conclusions.

I take it then, 'no real changes with respect to OS4 and Genesi' then?

It's quite fun to read about someone's planned Amiga project, rather than the usual arguments, even if it is for a mobo that won't ever run OS4. AW.net might even get exciting again...

Cheers!

I've been planning to do this for some time, but with a mini-itx board and either AROS or Linux. The Efika seems like such a perfect board for the job though, since it's going to run a binary compatible amigalike OS.

I'm looking forward to it. It will be a joint exercise in fun and swearing!

Perhaps many would only be happy if instead of having licensee right to AmigaOS 4 GENESI got instead to AmigaDE.
BTW, in AmigaDE present state it could be easier to actually make AmigaOS4 run on EFIKA then AmigaDE, so... perhaps it would be better for Amiga INC to actually let AmigaOS 4 run on it...

@BobC.

I assure it is nothing sorts of 'a schmoozed foggy and ambiguous statement', you just have to know the history behind it...

Does Genesi's license for Amiga Inc's technologies and trademarks allow Genesi to also sublicense? Perhaps ACK, Troika and the Trio should be talking to Genesi now instead of negotiating through Amiga Inc. There are probably many other potential partners that may want to license from Genesi for Amiga Inc's IP.

I was almost excited there, until I realised that this could include OS3.xx under emulation.

Are you are actually saying that you have a license to bundle OS4 OEM with this?

Could a Frieden comment?

We think the Amiga Community and the Demo Scene gave birth to the spirit that led strongly to the whole open source movement - particularly in Europe.

Unix contributed a lot more to the open source "movement" than the Amiga. After all, Unix was open source before open source was cool - and before the term even existed. When computers such as the Amiga appeared in people's home though, it exposed a much larger audience to the concept of things like computing, and along with it new forms of sharing information, such as open source. Can't deny though that the Amiga really drove the demo scene, since most Amiga coders were more than happy to show off things that PCs couldn't touch.

License for what? DE, OS4, (cough) OS5?

I'm sure the whole Amiga community would like to know how this is possible? Where is the news release on this matter?

I'm sorry if I started yet another train of desperate search for AmigaOS4 hardware here, but the fact remains. Genesi reported earlier getting a possitive response (or something to that fact), and I wold like to know how this is proceeding.

I sure do hope that this procedure doesn't include the usual screaming, threats and sharp nails, and in fact is an _agreement_ between the two parties.

And I wouldn't hold my breath for an answer from the Friedens ATM, I would think they had better things to do

Neko propossed in morphzone using gfx card ram as "swap" or simply ram... I remember there were some programs in aminet that allowed you to use gfx card ram as fast ram but does anyone know if these programs will work with CGX5?

It could be handy to use just 32MB for gfx card usage and the rest as fast ram. It wouldn't be as fast as true fast ram but it would be better than using swap...

And how was it obtained? Did they actually negotiate an OS4 license with Amiga Inc.? Or is this from the AmigaDE lawsuit, which granted Genesi the DE port, but denied Genesi ownership of OS4 as I remember.

Everybody has learned their lesson now, that what has been said / promised or announced
by Amiga related companies should never be trusted. "Believe it when I see it"- a phrase we
could use more often. Genesi is has the same problems too even though they are a bit better
in delivering than most.
