@pavlor

I can send you the screenshots of my (Aros 68k) distribution running applications on it, I play 68k games on it (WHDLoad), it is completely 68k, it runs on classic hardware...

Wawa even told that even 68k viruses work on it... what better proof can be there?

@Phantom

try to adapt old Roms and libraries to new 68k hardware without source, try to add features that did not exist in the past without sources

@OlafS25

So that's the best reason to start erasing my AmigaOS and installing AROS in my A1200?

I'll never understand the reason to run AROS under 68k Amigas. It sounds like they want to re-invent the wheel.

it wouldnt be neccessary if amiga system had been open sourced.
for your information, the same developer who maintains 68k platform is en course to finish sam440/460 implementation. now, i *really* dont understand this if you ask me.. hardware neither fast enough in comparison whats available for aros nor with any sentimental value.. but i dont question it. i think its cool if aros will be available for sam users.

@Phantom

nobody is forcing you to do anything... those who want to use it can and the rest must not

someone was again claiming the "heritage" and you must use AOS to use the "true" successor and we are only proofing that this is not true by offering hard facts

the reason is that aros already extends on aos functionality while staying compatible to both hardware and the software base. as 68k user i was exactly waiting for this to happen since i have discovered how buggy warp3d is.

@wawa

I've been following AROS almost since the beginning, but I've lost partial interest during the years. AROS have to stay and continue its development for x86 (as they have started from the beginning). Do they have so many developers, time, probably money trying to adapt AROS to run on 68k Amigas, on Sams etc?

Well, not if your A1200 isn't getting any new update, neither hardware nor software. But give AROS M68K time, and it may prove to be better - for some reason - than the original. Now it's too early, IMHO, for everydays common user operations.

I am not involved in SAM (or PPC), I do not own one and have no intention to ever buy one. There is a small group involved in 68k development. Me, Jason, Toni and Wawa. And of course reports of bugs, problems go to other developer who work on Zune and other components. Aros 68k is now on the main development branch and frequently changing.

I am today only using Aros 68k (with WinUAE). I have added speech support and Arexx and original Roms for WHDLoad and a original installer and do not miss much...

@Phantom

believe me or not, but the currently most active developer came to aros to fulfill the 68k kickstart bounty and since then vastly improved the whole system. not only 68k version exists and runs dependably even on real hardware, packet handler has been implemented, irq handling and overall speed improved, and a lot of other things and fixes not to talk about beforementioned sam port, pci support for bci bridges in the work, foundations for smp..

what a developer does on aros is his own decision, but whatever he does it improves the whole.

@OlafS25 & Paolone

I have nothing more to say than to wish you good luck with your project. Probably others will find it more interesting than me.

Then I can only wish you good luck too with AOS 4.1. That would not interest me...

to me a proof of heritage is that aros runs on my genuine amigas. beat that..

Linux also runs on "genuine amigas".

Even FreeTOS (OS for Atari computers) runs on "genuine amigas".

To be more on topic:

Oracle mode ON
I think A-eon will announce on AmiWest new PowerPC card for Classic Amiga computers. Best of both (NG and Classic) worlds.
Oracle mode OFF

may be, but im fed up with announcements by now. moreover i hardly intend to buy any expensive hardware for any kind of "amiga" anymore.

@wawa

What the FPGA Arcade really needs is the ability to run AROS 68k with the replacement ROM and WHDLoad. Trying to get a license to OS3.x and genuine Kickstarts from Amiga.inc will probably be "mission impossible".

I think i heard that Jason already owns FPGA so there is hope. WHDLoad works (how I tested) so you can use Amigaforever Roms for it.

If that AmigaOS 4.1 was published by Commodore-Amiga Inc, will you say the same?
