In a matter of weeks we will be presented with a new HW company offering motherboards for AOS4, which leads me to these questions...

1. Is Eyetech gone as a supplier, after the next batch of mobos they recently talked about?

2. Who is the new company???

3. Why on earth does a new company stick to old specs as in theA1 - still having only SD-RAM, 800 MHZ CPU, and so on. Why not use the great momentum and throw out a modern specced board with DDR RAM, faster processor, etc.???? - Rule nr. one in buisness. If you want to compete, you've gotta distinguish yourself!

4. Are this new secret company the keeper of the "mystery device"???

5. Do I like this new situation?........YEEEEEEEAH!!!!!

6. Can I patiently wait several weeks for the pressrelease?........NOOOOOOOO!!!!

@zErec

read this

/edit;

Next up was an interview with two fulltime OS4 developers Hans-Joerg and Thomas Frieden of Hyperion Entertainment. After talking about some major milestones and challenges, they stated that the OS4 team is aiming for a full Amiga OS4.0 release in time for Christmas 2005. Regarding hardware they felt confident that the Eyetech AmigaOne-XE and MicroA1 hardware will soon become available again, as they are currently sold out at all the official A1 dealers. In addition new hardware is being worked on behind the scenes by other 3rd parties. Within a few weeks one of these projects will be announced to the public, but eventually when they are released these boards will be similarly specced as the current A1 boards and this will take a still unknown amount of time.

@Hondo_DK

Hopefully a new hardware company, just to get some competition to the hardware companies.

@zErec

I think he's referring to what was said at amigbg, basically one of the friedens bros (can't remember which, sorry) made a comment about new H/W announcement coming from a company in the next few weeks IIRC.

Hmmm. Presumably the answer to this will be given in "a matter of weeks"...

Well, the other post that quoted something said more of "similar specs" sort of thing rather than "exactly the same down to the tiniest detail". I'd hope there are some variations hinted at.

@Hondo_DK

Hehe... well you guys finally woke up! That's what we were discussing in this news thread, and again here. And probably other threads too.

I wondered when everyone else would start getting excited about this announcement of an announcement. Okay, I know that most are reserved about getting excited anymore, but at least we know that there are some additional options coming, as well as the new µA1's Alan told us about.

Since Eyetech are concentrating on the µA1 right now, I hope that the new board (boards?) to be announced at least have an AGP and a couple of PCI slots. It would be nice to have features like Olegils board, but that's expecting too much for now.

Neither, but I know who it is

And no, I am not saying a word for fear of death, but I can safely say one of them is a member here.

However the new HW is happening.

[comical empty threat]
I think you should fear death if you dont say something more...we know where you live!
[/comical empty threat]

Or...even worse than death...I could..

1. Have you *probed* for information..trust me you dont want to be probed!
2. Lock you in a dark room with only a (PC) computer for company..locked onto ann.lu
3. Anyone want to add to this list?

Exactly so! Hear, hear! That's why we have AmigaOS4! Even Wilhelm Tell of Swiss lore did not use a canon to shoot an Apple, eh, sorry apple from a boy's head.

My 2 cents

Aha! That was too easy. It's obviously Olegil Inc!
