| With TapJewels[, we are currently developing our first small commercial game for the Amiga computer. We aim to improve our programming and graphics skills with each project and gradually build up the quality and scope of our games. This is the next step on our journey.
TapJewels is our second project for the classic Amiga, following Dodge These Balls. Dodge These Balls was the first step in building our game engine and learning to program on the Amiga. Graphics creation is also still in its infancy and is being improved bit by bit (this is where I’m always struggling—it’s not that easy to pixel art).
TapJewels has now implemented additional features that weren’t previously available in our engine. These include, for example, sprites, copper effects, color palette changes, MOD support, and advanced text rendering features.
Please note: Everything is built from scratch. No use of AI, no use of cheap graphics assets, no use of third-party game engines! Exploring the system and learning through our projects is very important to us, and we don’t want to rely on ready-made modules from AI or other providers. We hope to keep it this way for as long as possible and gradually work our way toward higher quality and scope. For us, this can only be achieved through a few smaller projects, regular releases, and your support.
We hope, of course, that you’ll have some fun playing the finished game. For our first projects, we’re focusing on smaller casual games that you can play for a quick round whenever you have a moment. Tap Jewels is the first in this series.
In terms of gameplay, it’s a “match-3” game where you have to clear the board of jewels. You must click on at least two adjacent jewels to remove them. The more adjacent jewels you clear, the more points you earn. If you play well and quickly, a “mana” bar builds up (at the bottom center). Once you reach the required value, you’ll earn double points for a while. This creates a bit of pressure to keep the Mana and keep earning double points for longer.
Minimum Requirements: Amiga 500, PAL, 512kb Chip Ram, 512kb Fast Ram, 880kb Floppy Disk
Everything is still a work in progress, nothing is final… so don’t complain too much ;)

| @all Now released. :) https://www.amiga-shop.net/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=tap%20jewels%20-%20classic%20amiga&language=en
Here the complete press release: Developer-X and Alinea Computer are delighted to present the boxed and download versions of Tap Jewels for the 68k Amiga. Developer-X is responsible for development, whilst Alinea Computer handles distribution.
Tap Jewels is a classic match-3 gem game which, with its simple, tried-and-tested gameplay, offers plenty of fun and is highly addictive. Adjacent gems of the same colour can be removed from the board to score points. The more jewels you clear at once, the more new jewels appear on the board, thereby extending the game. By skilfully combining jewels and using special tiles (RowCleaner, ColumnCleaner, CrossCleaner), you can prolong the game and secure a good spot on the high score list.
When you clear many jewels and play quickly without making mistakes, a mana gauge at the bottom of the board fills up; when it is full, the game switches to bonus mode and rewards the player with double points for a period of time. During this time, the pressure of the game builds further; gameplay must be more focused and faster to keep the bonus going for as long as possible. The integrated achievements (Awards), which can be earned by reaching various goals, offer high replay value.
The game modes "Puzzle" and "Time Master" offer players two ways to play. Whilst "Puzzle" focuses on combining large numbers of jewels to keep the playing field filled for as long as possible, "Time Master" requires a slightly faster pace due to the time pressure. Mistakes when clicking are penalised with a loss of time and lead to increased pressure as the game progresses.
On the technical side, the EntwicklerX team deliberately chose a basic Amiga configuration as their foundation. An Amiga 500 with a 512 KB memory expansion and a floppy disk drive is entirely sufficient.
From the programming and graphics to the music, all elements are handmade. No AI, no graphic assets or pre-made music were used. Frank Menzel and Thomas Claus from EntwicklerX deliberately set out to learn the unique features of the Amiga through this project and aim to expand and improve their skills in future Amiga projects. In Sven Thoennissen, they have also found a musician for Tap Jewels who was active on the Amiga until the 2000s and has now, after more than 20 years, composed his first Amiga MOD files again. Back to the roots

A physical release for such a small OS4 game is not possible for us. We sold around 30 digital copies for "Starfall Defenders", no chance to build a disc version for around 5-10 TapJewels OS4 versions in a CD case.

We're tired of the "Swamp..." series of games :(
We love Mace and Spencer :) That's why we're eagerly awaiting Pyramid Quest and Monster Blast + Infinity.
Sales would definitely be higher for Amigas with Radeon HD/RX. |

We only can do games we get finished. We have here versions of Monsterblast running on AmigaOS but the performance is not great. We have to spend month of hard work to make it run on the hardware and adjust graphics, shader, code.. we don´t know when we can do it. If no one plays our other games, we can not make bigger ones.. so simple is that.
RadeonHD and RX cards are running 10 times faster on low end PC (we tried it on a very, very old AMD Athlon), if we could get at least double speed with our systems and drivers, it would be much easier for us to release new stuff...
Pyramid Quest, no chance.. months of work and reducing all graphics and animations. No time, no money to do this and if it runs in 10fps no one will play it...
Our next try will be "Radon Break", in current state also the same problem: poor performance and weeks of work and only the hope it runs well after working on it. We will see.. _________________ www.amiboing.de - www.entwickler-x.de |

Maybe RadeonHD/RX cards will skyrocket when Trevor and AmigaKiT release their promised graphics card drivers (Enhancer 2.3).
I've spoken with HunoPPC and they're also waiting, as new features and bug fixes will improve Doom3's performance.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Pyramid Quest will be released on the AmigaOne X5000 :)
