@Derfs

I mean, maybe a Xena is a 3 core Xenon - they've just added the a to amigaize it. :P

But, please, forgive me: i'm starting seeing chip everywhere...

And this "HYPERION PPC/Freescale/Xenon/Xena/Xorro/X" ( ) computer would be sold at:
- 100 Euros ?
- 500 Euros ?
- 1000 Euros ?
- 1500 Euros ?
- 2000 Euros ?

@ONLY_AMIGA

I don't think anyone knows at the moment.. But I'd imagine around 1000-1500 euros given the (partially guessed) specs and the limited amiga market.

@Geennaam

PA6T-1682M has "offload engines". Do you think Xena and Xorro could have anything to do with utilizing these?

IF the new board supports or can support 68k emulation in an FPGA, that would make Petunia obsolescent.

Takes us back to context switch issues lke on the Phase 5 boards. At this point, with modern PowerPC performance, we're better off with 8K as a software entity, not a hardware one.

I'd agree with that. I think the Sam440 range will be positioned as an entry-level machine with the new machine as a high-end model.

Unless A-Eon are trying to undercut ACube (which doesn't seem likely given past co-operation between Hyperion and ACube).

@BinoX

I still want to know about that audio output. Colour coding suggests 7.1 audio - are they planning 7.1 audio support in AmigaOS4.x?

openal has very recently been ported, although I don't see any new audio drivers since the SAM one (does that support 5.1/7.1 sound?)

TBH I've never noticed what they are usually at but it does seem quite high.

I think the 64 bit part was easy compared to the dual core part. I want one too!

If it will be more than 500-600 euros, it will not be good.

@-Sam-

A price range in around the old amigaone Xe range. Too much? Nope. Look at the specs. Worth it yes

But then again,some will even complain if they got it for free.

Dude, in the morning it was something like:

170 guest(s) on-line.
65 member(s) on-line.

When I saw it, I couldn't believe my eyes!

I cannot remember exactly the number but when I calculated, the sum was far beyond 200 people online!

Look at the pace of these threads, it is enormous. Within tomorrow late at night we will reach 2.000 replies.

And the coolest part, finally, no one is complaining, unbelievable!

I didn't quite understand the 8*25% test

I read that as either a quad-core, dual-issue processor or a quad-core, dual-threaded processor, depending on how you compute processor time. The Freescale QorIQ P4040 seems like a good candidate.

EDIT: Incidentally, the P4040 is based on the e500mc, which includes hardware support for virtualization. I'd love to see a hypervisor-based AmigaOS.

EDIT2: Ah. 25% as 1/4 of one core would be a dual-core processor.

For you, there will be a huge government discount, you know the drill, right ?
