Encourage cooperation between application developers, and driver developers. Cooperation between core OS developers is a long way off, but is more likely to happen if they can see the benefits that applications and drivers have had from people helping each other out. |
For what it's worth, I agree with your thinking: It's the only possibility of co-operation left, and there is a small chance it might even work!
When PortablE r6 is finished, I hope it might make a small contribution towards this goal. (I also have a few ideas for apps, which will of course be compiled for AmigaOS4, AROS *and* MorphOS. It might even be possible to support AmigaOS3 in some cases.)Last edited by ChrisH on 16-May-2011 at 07:40 PM.

Maybe would be useful to start a poll on AW too.

| @AmigaBlitter What exactly do you hope to achieve with a poll? What is the poll question going to be? Last edited by HenryCase on 20-May-2011 at 09:33 PM.

Dunno. Maybe something like:
Would you like to see AOS, MOS, AROS team working together?

If they all said yes, how will that ever happen?

While i hardly think i will see them working directly on other systems, i can envision for the short term more programmers following what is going on with Fab helping programmers on porting applications in their own systems (and ironing out incompatibilities): the important is to have bridges built, not burnt.

Bridges can be built. Bridges have also been build leading to nowhere.

| I know full well it won't happen of course, but I think the best team up of forces would be C= USA and Hyperion. C= USA seem to have the financial capacity and the ability to manufacture custom computer cases. Hyperion have a great operating system that is well supported through developers in this community and lots of great software on the os4depot etc. What if this unlikely pairing got together and made that elephant in the room so to speak a reality, elephant in the room? you ask. What if with Commodore USAs amiga branded cases housing cheap x86 hardware and there financial capacity were able to fund Hyperions great AmigaOS to be ported to x86 hardware in these nice looking Commodore branded and Amiga badged cases?
Well you can't blame a man for dreaming such things
Time to roll over and keep dreaming I think good night everyone. _________________ Amiga A1200T - TF1260 - R9200 - Indivision AGA MK3 Amiga A500 - PiStorm EMU68 Pegasos 2 G4 - AmigaOS 4.1 FE / MorphOS 3.16 |

I find it horrible confusing the mix of brand names and product names.
Commodore the computer vs Commodore as the companies.
Amiga the computer and operating system vs Amiga the companies
Personally I liked the products, and hated the companies.

Point taken I understand where you are coming from.
However with CUSA They have the registered name of Commodore and the license to the brand logo Amiga and Hyperion have the license to AmigaOS we just need to put it all together with the added incentive of getting it on cheap powerful hardware
By the way I'm not all about names and brands, I just think that if forces were joined I think this would be the best combo and outcome.Last edited by Fairdinkem on 09-Jun-2011 at 12:24 PM.

| Google is going to buy up all the licenses and release a brand new Amiga desktop based on never before seen, alien technology. You'll need a small nuclear reactor to run the computer but it comes with Goomiga OS which is completely backward compatible to not only Amiga but also C64 and Texas Instruments TI-99.
...but it doesn't run Flash. Sorry. |
