@mbrantley

Thanks to you and others that have enjoyed the pictures. Hopefully they help tell a small story of how my day went enjoying Amiwest 2012.

Now it is banquet time soon so I can enjoy grub with more new friends I have met this year!

TJ

My brew-buddies from last night. We all helped hold down this table all night and would not budge away from the beer!

I "think" these folks are new to NG Amiga or new to Amiga period. I saw them checking out all the different booths today being shown everything Amiga, MorphOS, Aros, you name it. Here it looks like Paul was helping them find where they can buy a NG Amiga.

AmigaDave's Mission Control. I wonder if he is controlling the new Mars Rover?

Matt running AmigaKit booth. Today he sold me a A-Eon Thumb Drive with Linux on it for my X1000 and a nice A-Eon mouse mat.

The Aros troups showing off Aros on many machines.

Hyperion & Aeon in the house.

For those online who will be tuning in to the banquet, you can play Banquet Trivia at home!

Check out http://www.amiwest.net/triviaform.html and tune in for the questions. Be sure to press the send button when I say so or your entry might not count!

Scores and prizes will be posted after the banquet!

Let's hope this works!

@amigakit

Yeah I would have loved to have made Replay, sadly I was working last weekend, going to try and make it next year though. A dedicated Commodore/Amiga show would be a 100% attendance for me though :)

@amigasociety

All right who's mucked the entire thing up...

The quiz is just about to start and suddenly the live feed goes off air and now all I get is a requester asking me for an "HTTP autentification" and a username and password !!!

Bugger, waited hours for this and when it finally starts it all goes belly up...

Anyone there realise the feed has gone and if so could someone fix it pleeeease...

Someone's taking the pee here...

The video is back but every time a question is about to be asked the audio cuts out and mysteriously comes back the instant he finishes asking the question...

C'mon who's playing silly buggers here, it's 4:44 am and I'm getting cranky...

Dang it... I'm off to make up me own quiz with the squirrels...

Ruddy internet. always said it was rubbish...

Well having listened to the Questions & Answer session in it's entirety all I really took away from it was this...

Steve Sollie made it perfectly clear that there will never be any "collaboration" with MorphOS (or AROS) as he said basically what benefit or reward would that be to Hyperion...

Trevor Dickinson said once again that the X1000 made no money for him but that he is still continuing with the development of new hardware and that without the funding of more developers there is basically no way forward for the Amiga (well NG ones)...

David Morris (Amigadave), still has great hopes that somehow all of us users of whatever flavour will pull together and become one voice that will influence and persuade the likes of Hyperion, A-EON, AROS & MorphOS to listen to the users and actually produce what users want...

Matthew Leaman of AmigaKit perhaps said it best though, when he pointed out that users vote with their wallets and from his own business experience that this is what leads & guides the business plan/ direction of Amigakit...

And the guy called Jason whom develops for AROS said the wisest thing of all in that he basically does it for fun & enjoyment...

So while it was interesting to listen to all these viewpoints, all I can say is thankfully for me on a personal basis is that I'm happy with the way things are and that I don't need or require a new/ updated OS or modern day hardware to continue getting enjoyment out of the Amiga for them to continue to be useful & productive...

I do feel a wee bit sorry for those who do want to see new Amiga computers with a continually improving OS, as the overall impression I got from that question & answer session was each has their own agenda and each are not willing to budge from it (cept the AROS guy whom was happy for anyone to use his code on any platform)...

PS: The guy asking the questions (forgot his name already) answered one question I have always been most curious about... What does someone actually look like in real life whom imagines he sees "Trolls" and "Spam" on these forums... now I know...

@Franko

Jason shows Aros on FPGA Arcade and there will be certainly things improving so that Aros will better run on slow hardware. There is a new 64bit Linux hosted version of Aros, a new version for Sam 460. Aeros will be available too for different platforms (including Sam 460). All distributions will be further updated and work in the background too and more good things will come in 2013. So I am not unhappy about the situation, work is going on. At least the situation is clear now and all speculations end.

@Franko

I do not expect Hyperion to cooperate with anyone as long as they can earn money with the existing userbase...

@Senex

Thanks, many ha ha quotes there :-b

Steven Solie is no confidence booster that's that's for shore, its amazing to see how unprepared he was, generally speaking nothing new, no information on how things are coming along.

Its a Q and A not a roadmap, he does not says where things are going and presenting something its all hi hi and ha ha.
