Hard to say really.
As a European(at the time) I kind of lean towards the games and the cracker-groups(that eventually destroyed amiga and commodore)
But they are all fleeting memories of what could have been.

What is amiga? Amiga is a console that plays arcade games.
Amiga is an os whose purpose is to load games off a floppy disk. No more. No less.

To the poll question: "What product do you think is best?" - I answer I real Amiga.

To the alternate question: "What system is best for anyone that want to get into Amiga games?" - I answer a regular PC with Amiga Forever DVD.

@Nonefornow

I assume "get into" means play? Development is an entirely different poll.

If you leave this community and ask the same question related solely to "play", you'll find a different set of responses.
But once again, that takes us to the old topic of whether Amiga has any desire to expand the community as opposed to continuing on the current track of feasting off the remains.

Yes I thought that was strange.

@NutsAboutAmiga.

Looks like you combined two opposite ends of the spectrum there.

Not quite sure what you mean by "The A500". I would consider the A500 to be a real A500. Since you didn't attach Mini. A little ambiguous on that one.

I agree for data sharing with the real deal an AmigaONE is a good option. Good to have an AmigaOne for emergency Amiga drive fix. Or transferring Amiga files to.

On a PC you need to stop Windows interfering. And go through an emulator. Still, for emulating, a PC is the best option. Even Linux UAE interfaces crap over OS4.

But for real Amiga games I think the real thing is best. You've got the real [working] keyboard. And on the right setup they play perfectly as intended.

I think emulators are quirky pieces of software. They are intended to cripple a computer into behaving like one less powerful. Sure a modern PC or A1 only has one hardware sprite but they can do so much more. So it seems strange to run software that cripples it. Just saying.

Actually just thought what my kinda third option would be, that is streaming/cloud based Amiga gaming

https://amigang.com/cloud/

Ant stream is pretty good when you can’t be bothered to setup emulation, plus it’s free at the moment and has a number of Amiga classics.

Then there the on going developments of SAE and vAmiga ( https://vamigaweb.github.io/doc/about.html ) which is pretty dam cool if you ask me,

https://amiga.oszx.co/ you can load into a number of game along as you have a modern browser and controllers setup, it even works on iPad / iOS / apple locked down device 😀.

The best way to enjoy Amiga games is to just watch some longplays on youtube - why bother with all the hassle when you can just sit down with a beer and some snack, and watch someone else do it.

When it comes to sharing opinions, one isn't usually right or wrong.
You, it seems, were determined to push the limits of that concept.
Everything you said (wrote) in the above post, is completely wrong.

As you were saying, it's all opinion.

THEA500 Mini is for fair weather Amiga fans and adults who still like to play with toys.
Vampire is for the cult of Vampire who must worship the chosen one without question.
AmigaNone is for the elitist snobs who enjoy the rarity of niche market hardware for the classes.
Original Amiga hardware with upgrades is for the outdated purist.
Original Amiga hardware without upgrades is for the masochistic outdated purist.
Rasberry Pi Amiga emulation is for the frugal tinkerer.
WinUAE is for the wasteful brute force traitor.
MiSTer is for the practical Amiga user ready to jump to a less embarrassing system as Amiga implodes.
MiniMig is for the Amiga user who hasn't bought the new "mini" or tiny mini, a FleaFGPA Ohm.
UnAmiga seems to be a more popular brand name for Atari users.

So you can only vote for he 'Pancake' Option, because your system is not listed on the poll.

They are FPGA systems using a Minimig Core for Amiga emulation. I would only recommend systems big enough for the latest MinimigAGA core with RTG, so the original Minimig might be to small with a slow 68k inside.

Is an AGA+RTG in FPGA system with a fast built in 68k simulation with some interesting features. It might be cheaper than upgrading a real Amiga.

If you are to lazy for Amiberry or for WinUAE and if you want to have a ready made system, this might be the way to go, but installing a real AOS3.x system or newer games could be a bit tricky.

Quote:

This is a rather stupid summary because this are totally different systems not even sharing the same OS or brand name.

One of those systems doesn't even run most Amiga games without a properly installed UAE.

This might be the option used by most people here if they are using WinUAE (or other UAEs) for Amiga emulation.

Your poll seems rather strange to me, you are listing hardware questions like a noob without any clue about the development of the last 15 years.

You may have brought it up for entertainment but the selection of some of your points seems rather strange to me.

CD32?

Also, I'm suprised no one's made an SD->CD interface to replace the CD32's optical drive with an SD card adapter+loader like what exists on other systems...

I don't know him, but i do fit in the broke-real-hardware-owner-too-far-to-be-used-forced-to-emulation one

@Hypex
I have plenty of failing original Amiga hardware with upgrades. I nearly owned a Vampire as part of the Apollo Team but I didn't have an Amiga 600 and lost interest about the time the Vampire which fits in the 68000 chip socket started production. I was offered a Sam 440 for free because some people thought I was a good enough developer but I turned it down as I felt there were better developer candidates and I could easily afford one if I liked the idea of PPC AmigaNone hardware. Lately, I'm more in the category of moved on. I wish there was affordable 68k+chipset Amiga replacement hardware with modern enhancements and compatibility at least as good as the 68060. The Vampire SA is close to what I want. I suggested and pushed for a SA with a Cyclone V back then before moving to an ASIC. I lost any remaining interest when Gunnar started spreading lies about me resulting in attacks on me on EAB. I have considered buying a MiSTer as the hardware is good, well supported, flexible and reasonably priced for a fat FPGA but I haven't been motivated to do it lately. I would like to try HDL programming sometime too.

What system is best for anyone that want to get into Amiga games?

My choice is not the best solution for everyone, but works for me.

I have only a few Amiga games on my NG system.
Some work fine on OS4 with no further emulation.
Some require emulation, I use OS4 + E-UAE + OS3.

I spat my coffee out because it's true it's not a great experience and all of the lack-of development, high cost etc

Very very funny.

Anyway, I choose emulation, WinUAE as it can do everything better these days.

Since the question is about Amiga games I'd say that fits the bill. I'd also add that it is the best option for children of Amigans or retro console fans that want to see what the Amiga was all about (on the game side at least).

Maybe the A1222Plus could have been that for the AmigaOne platform but I fear it needs Hyperion to play ball to launch hard and they simply are not currently and are more interested in AmigaOS3.x and litigation.

Edit. But I can't think of many AmigaOne exclusive games that anyone is missing out on TBH so maybe I should have left that out of the discussion. Some people do think RunInUAE etc works well as to be seemless though for 68k games.

Funny and true on many points.
I'm glad I'm not so 1-dimensional.

I, it seems, am an outdated purist adult worshiper in the Vampire Cult, who still likes to play with toys. I'm OK with that, as long as I'm not an elitist snob.

And maybe this is the cult talking, but I'd really like it if you could get over the bad blood (see what I did there) between Gunnar and yourself, and embrace the Vampire for the sake of 68k. The game is bigger than the players.
