@sibbi

"Amiga Community Sites" (lower right AW front page) has bad links.

amigann.com (nothing but error messages)
+
Amiga Samba redirects to AW front page
+
Amigaweb.net (gone for eons, no?)

@number6

_Steve_ really should take a look at this stuff, it's not really a bug per se. Perhaps he will.

@sibbi

Was just about to

Ok, those entries have been removed. Assuming the Samba stuff can be sorted, it will be simple to put that back on the list. As I recall that was something to do with the virtual hosting of the samba site going a bit screwy prior to the server relocation. If that can be sorted and Mikey manages to get that fixed, I'll put the link back in place.

@Webmaster,

Is anyone else having any problems with their account profile update function not working?

I cannot change my preference to see thread comments with the newest post first. I have tried to change my profile several times, but every time I go back to it, it shows that my preference is still "Oldest" comment to be displayed first.

Also, when reading in the forums if I change the selection box to display the newest comment first, it has no effect.

The only way I can see the latest thread comments is to click on the last page of a thread and scroll to the bottom of the page. This behavior only started a few months ago and is driving me nuts that I cannot revert it to showing the newest thread posts first.

Any help would be appreciated if this is not happening for everyone. If it is a problem with the site, please fix it.

@amigadave

I've fixed the newest/oldest in the forum code itself, that functionality seems to have been removed for some reason, if it introduces new bugs somewhere else we might have to disable it again, if so I'll post here again.

Another seperate bug was the bug in the user profile section that caused the preferred value of the newest first/oldest first setting to not be saved in the profile, that setting however was honored by the forum code although the temporary per topic change was not.

Thanks for taking the time to report these issues

Kind regards,
Sibbi

Quoting only works two levels deep.

Example.

@Boot_WB

That is a known issue (and limitation in the xoops code for that module). I will see if anything can be done about it, but ideally moving on to a better CMS would be the best option rather than hacking around in this xoops codebase.

@_Steve_

How about that "space" necessary after a quoted url before you do [/quote[ - to prevent the "hanging quote" issue. CMS again?

Thanks for replying

More:

1) News indexes by category no longer work.
News is listed in categories (such as 'miscellaneous news'). Clicking the category should navigate to an index of each news category, but simply redirects to the homepage.

2) News indexes by Username no longer work.
When viewing a news item, the link in the right hand box for 'News by ' should navigate to an index of news items submitted by that user, but links to the profile page of the user instead.

Thanks. I guess that means not likely to be fixed in the near future then.

@Boot_WB

I think it's more about what Steve said. They have to decide how much effort to put into continued hacking of this old xoops, vs considering migration to a new CMS. There's a lot to that issue.

amigaworld broken over ipv6

Amigaworld has a dns entry for ipv6

amigaworld.net has address 178.162.174.143
amigaworld.net has IPv6 address 2a00:c98:2c00:a00a:3::1

however the site does not respond / is not working correctly on 2a00:c98:2c00:a00a:3::1 and the browser sits there for some time "waiting for reply".

@buzz

I'll have to ask Sibbi about this one as he set up the server for IP6.

@_Steve_

you could remove the AAAA record for now until it is fixed, which would mean I don't have to keep a /etc/hosts entry forcing the site to use ipv4 etc.
