He said no discussion, but I just HAVE to mention that I showed up at DataKompaniet in Trondheim, wearing red-n-white checkered pants, and a black shirt with flames. Woohoo! Dual-boot OS4/Debian next. But first, some food.

OFFTOPIC

Benchmark to everyone: What's your CPU load when watching
dancingbanana ??

I have 85% CPU load on 2.6Ghz P4 & Win2000 & Netscape 7.0 & 1280x1024x32bit.

( I'm soooooo bored in living without AOS4 fun ... argh ... )

I'll settle for just the one, because my ethernet connection died before I could post here.
Maybe my ancient G3-SE really IS too old to run OS4?

SDK installed and ready, but I won't have any time to play for a few days yet...

Oh no

If I was a little more technical, I'd make a few suggestions. Ooh, have you been to the AmigaOS4# channel? The guys there helped me out with a couple of issues.

It's not the same as my problem is it? The CD-ROM drive seemed to have a few compatibility issues. I tried a different one and al was well.

When that happened to me, I at least got the courtesy of a "bootscreen NG".

Don't tell me you got stiffed on that one? If so, how rude. Tsk, tsk..

@FuZion

Turns out that power to CPU fan is a good idea.
I saw it immediately when I checked the serial console and saw that it crashed. It was either CPU overheating, or memory (hey, I've been bitching and moaning all year trying to make people test their systems using the four simple steps "100*6, 133*4.5, 100*8, 133*6", so it was only fair ). I immediately discovered that the CPU was VERY hot, and that the fan was not rotating.

Now I just need to figure out if I can actually use networking on my G3-SE. The Debian-maintainer of amiga-fisk FINALLY got back to me, so Debians amiga-fdisk will (as of very soon) be able to modify an RDB without destroying OS4. Hopefully we'll add the ability to load/save bootloaders from disk, set/modify AmigaDOS device names and adjust boot priorities, all of which work in my own version of it.

That one alone deserves a
