(No clumsy jokes in the top of the posting)

It's finally time for the awesome team from #amigadev to present you with...

Nah, just kidding, here are some screenshots of something I played with last night
to make your day a tad better. You all seem so depressed. Be nice to eachother ;)

It's soon Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa the season for being nice ;)

@nicomen

In what state is the port (is it a port)?

I'm REALLY looking forward to this, played it a lot (offline) on the classic,
but it stoped working since OS4pre.

I thought DaveP is working on a port, though, great to hear some news of it.
Really looking forward to it.

Is this a SDL only port, or do we still have some dependencies on other parts
where it makes it impossible to release it now?

Did i say that i really looking forward to it?

Wanna have, wanna have, wanna have

edit: Your site , all of the pics are broken! ???

@Raziel

I lost all pics from my homepage a while ago, haven't bothered to put all back

Freeciv shots are from an SDL version, it works kind of but is a bit sluggish

Dave Pitcher worked on porting 1.x series to os4. Talked to him about it the other day and it seems he did quite a bit but never got time to finish it. In the meantime the whole code has jumped to 2.x and there's plenty of new stuff.

According to Juha Niemaki the MUI version compiled earlier this year, so will ook at that when I get time (depends on other libs). Feel free to contribute yourself or other readers, if you want ;)

@nicomen

I'm not a big fan of games, but that looks like one I would try.

Yeh, and the SDL client looks even better than the MUI one...

@nicomen

I must be a bit senile here, but isn't Freeciv already ported to OS4? Didn't MikeyC write a review of that a while ago?

Excellent, hope to see a OS4 version of the 2.x freeciv soon!

(by the way, am i the only one to hate the isometric view? What was wrong with the "from the top" view of games like the first civilization ?)

@Keyserling

You mean something like this : (picture removed, too big and too slow)

Take look here (scroll down to the TileSets), you can choose whatever flavor
you want, that makes it even better

@treblesix

No "official" OS4 version for the public, if i remember right

There is an OS3.x MUI version out here from Sebastian Bauer, the man behind SimpleMail.

Sadly it stopped working since OS4, dunno why.

@nicomen

Some update on this? Will gladly betatest, too!

@Keyserling

I use the overhead tileset as well. Isometric never captured my imagination, and I'm a big kid at heart!

The original graphics are kind of iconic - the counters seem to represent something real, like a real battleship or a real plane.

Are you still with me?

Chris
