In the Wookie server menu:
Just leave the nick registration pw blank at the bottom right & put your own nick & name in the boxes. You'll need to add the server.

In the Wookie ConnectScripts directory, add the following text file,
named ExodusNet with /join #team*amiga as the text.

Just remember, the server can take 60 sec to connect, so wait it out.

Is Sunday night in some way different from say, Tuesday night?

You can see that I joined AmigaWorld.net successfully, but the list of servers is not in alphabetical order and does not include ExodusNet.

The Sunday chat is not on the AW irc servers, you must add a new group/server, then enter the settings I show.

The Sunday chat is a once a week chat, there is nothing happening there on any other day. Topics are mostly open, its mean't to be a friendly & fun chat, anything else & I put my foot down hard....thank goodness I don't need to do that. We have a great bunch of guys & gals that just enjoy chatting.

I think I have succeeded. I pointlessly joined your irc this Wednesday evening to be sure I could. I didn't tumble to your instructions very easily. I thought you were giving a "short answer" followed by a more expansive "longer answer" with the editing of the ExodusNet file and its contents. Your message just now made it clear that those were 2 totally separate actions. Since I have no similar context to relate those instructions to I was unable to read anything between the lines and just guessed (wrongly) about what was a precursor to what!

I still don't know why the name ExodusNet should be a server group. After puttering around I finally alit on servers.txt and can see why some of the groups are named the way they are. I supposed if it weren't so late I putter around in all the rest of the files lying around here and glean more. But, this isn't supposed to be a text adventure... I'd rather to told what's for touching and what is not. Oh, well.

Sunday is our switch to CST. Since I plan my activities somewhat in advance, from when to when can I expect to find connectees this coming Sunday?

Is there a link where I can find out why you title it "Asha Memorial Chat" or do I have to connect and ask?

Is there a resource that describes how WookieChat uses files (like the ones in the ConnectScripts directory)? I find the default groups that you saw in my screen shot puzzling (I suppose since I am a novice at IRC and WookieChat). I did not know that the server lists were manipulatable by dragging and dropping. I just clicked the [+] and [-]. I did find that I could delete entries (thanks to the button there).

Hoping to keep text length --down-- if/and/when I show up Sunday sometime.

Chat would start at 8PM CST, some arrive early, others late. The chat was originally 2 hours, but the time spent there is up to you.

Hmm, I changed that to "Home of the Asha chat". Asha Develder started the chat about 13-14 yrs ago, she was very active in the early internet/Commodore years & knew all the ppl (Dave Haynie, etc) involved in the company. Dave was a regular on the chat back in those days. Asha passed away in Jan of 2009 & we wanted to keep the chat alive, if only to remember her.

The connection script allows you to join more then 1 channel on a server or change your nick after a join, not sure if there's a doc file in the wookie distribution, I just learn by playing with the command setting.

/join #amigaworld
/nick just_me

This would connect you to 2 channels on the AW server & change your nick to "just_me" on both.

If you want to try a trial run, I can meet you there before Sunday, just give me a time.

I am sitting here flipping my monitor switch back and forth between my X1000 and A600 w/ACA630 that I just finished setting up so I could use the PCMCIA slot w/Compact Flash card adapter to transfer my VistaPro floppy disks to files, so I can try to install VistaPro on my X1000 using number6's excellent tutorial.

I noticed this thread and thought, why not scroll back through this thread to find directions on how to join in the Sunday Night Chat.

That way if I run into any trouble getting VistaPro installed and running, I can probably get immediate answers from number6, or others on the chat channel.

I almost never use IRC, so I have to learn how every time I try to use it.

Hopefully I will be able to log in to the IRC channel before everyone is done and gone.

Just be aware that it can take 60 sec for a connection, hate that myself, most other servers connect right away.
