Is that mounting holes for a cooler, or for a cpu board?
If for a cpu board, could it be upgradeable for various cpu's?

CPU seems to be onboard, so the holes should be for the cooler??_________________ Amiga: A computer for the creative mind.

| @BigBentheAussie Well, I somewhat doubt P.A. Semi is still offering their CPUs for new customers, since they were consumed by Apple, practically. But true, that's also a possibility... And it might be even possible to get a few thousand of those chips, to build such a small volume computer as this aims to be. However, i find somewhat "unsmart" to build a new platform on a dead-end CPU. _________________ MorphOS, classic Amiga, demoscene, and stuff "When a bridge is not enough, build a Viaduct!" I keep thinking the same but I ruled this chip out long ago because it is dead as a parrot. Or so I thought.
With the Apple buyout/shutdown I wouldn't expect to see any PA6T chips, ever. Why would Apple let something like this out in the wild? It could come back to bite them one day. For example, in this exact scenario we are puzzling over...
Cheers!

We probably need support for a while after initial batches... iron out issues and such. So I'd prefere that he'd hold out a little longer if he's involved.

why don't they go with mainstream hardware |
Well it looks as though they are doing the best of all worlds. Keeping certain things mainstream but adding some differences here and there to bring about advantages and unique selling points.
The point is if you made it all mainstream it would be very dull and boring and no-one would bother. If you went down the Apple route of giving in totally to the PC and just doing the OS whilst adding Apple tax for silly cases and boxes then you would have a Mac.
The Amiga is something different and Hyperion were right all along to stick to PowerPC and create a unique and different product. That uniqueness won't kill it but make it stronger. It will need the uniqueness in order to stand out from the crowd._________________ Sam |

Do you seriously think Apple would actually consider AmigaOS a threat now? Do you seriously think they consider MS a threat now?
Knowing how these things go, Apple may own PA Semi, but PA Semi probably keeps operating in a 'business as usual' manner, selling a small bunch of PPCs to an obscure startup developing hardware for an outdated 'hobby' os? (their possible thinking, not mine).
They may not even know it's aimed at AmigaOS. The sale could have been aimed at a STB or anything as far as they might know.
Far, far, far too many assumptions going on around here
