MSN Article

Here's the written section of the article in case you can't get to it....

Some products are steeped in nostalgia, even many years after they disappeared (or almost disappeared) from the market. Here are some of the most memorable ones.

Amiga

Other computer makers have come and gone, but the Commodore Amiga still commands a place of reverence among tech aficionados. As The New York Times once put it, "Amiga loyalists (are a) fanatical bunch who make Apple (AAPL) partisans look apathetic."

The first Amiga, made by Commodore as a follow-up to its Commodore 64, hit stores in 1985 as a top-of-the-line personal computer. Its various incarnations sold extremely well in the United States and Europe; users were enthralled by its fast processor, top-notch graphics, audio- and video-editing capabilities and its proprietary operating system.

Over time, competition from Apple and IBM (IBM) cut into Amiga's share of the PC market. But a funny thing happened on the way to extinction: People held on to their machines, so much so that an estimated half-million are still in use. Websites and Internet message boards bring Amiga fans from all over the world together to offer advice, develop new programs and trade software and parts.

The computer's legendary status has led to a reincarnation. A-Eon Technology is a private company founded with the sole intent of developing hardware for the Amiga operating system.

Yeah so the world may know. It's a good article and should give even more sales of the X1000

Time to unleash an army of your boingbots!

It will definitely attract a few curious people, that gonna be no longer interested in X1000 when they see the price of it. But word is the word and in this case, spreading the word is a blessing, it is a message that Amiga lives (in various flavors), the heartbeat is weak but visible on the electrocardiogram. Maybe the people attracted by X1000, gonna stay with the community and/or dust off their Amigas (whether they possess them).

By the way, it is surprising that the mention of the A-EON, instead of C=USA.

Yeah, I doubt if many* people are going to come running back when they see a $2k price on a grandpa box running an OS that only uses one core of the CPU and "can't run Firefox or Microsoft**"

What do you mean by this? A-EON are the ones manufacturing AmigaOS compatible boards, C=USA are just shipping look-alike cases with PeeCee boards inside! This is a case of good journalism as they've obviously done their research.

Yes, definitely a case of good journalism. Articles of this type are susceptible to intentional or unaware promotion of the generic-PC+linux called Amiga, or rather a company, which gonna produce mentioned PC.
EDIT: ...and the A-EON does not have the rights to Amiga name.

Amiga computers, despite competition from Apple and IBM leading to their decline in market share by 1985, have maintained an enduring legacy among tech enthusiasts who continue to use them today with half a million units still operational as of the article's publication. A-Eon Technology is attempting to revive interest through developing hardware for Amiga OS.
