Since the proposed T2080 laptop would support eight concurrent threads, it could support more concurrent processes via kvm than any other system mentioned here (outside of Power9). _________________ Amiga! "Our appeal has become more selective" |

kvm in e6500 probably is book3e (like P50xx or P1020) it mean you will be able to virtualize x5000 and tabor but not powermacs or sam460. i dont find any cpu definitions of e6500 on qemu for now it mean it use e5500/e500 ed ppce500 as the architecture to virtualize. Loose question: Apple dropped the ibook and powerbook lines and they are bloody everywhere. Why not port to those? |

Performance and age. Also, this is a Linux project first and foremost, porting of the OS is up to Hyperion.

Wow it would have USB 3 ports! Would be a first for an AmigaOne! _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

| Going to need more drivers for that Going to need a driver team just for porting

That is understood and expected...
My philosophy is to build hardware, and then someone has reason to make drivers for it. Kind of hard to do the driver first, then make the hardware to fit...Last edited by billt on 02-Dec-2019 at 01:31 PM.

I was thinking of the infamous Tabor audio driver issue(s) that seem to be keeping it from release _________________

| P1020 has i2S for audio, t2080 does not, so the audio chip is on PCIe bus. -> possibly again a good amount of audio driver re-work needed
Damn, we should have that Radeon audio supported to cover all boards with "one" driver implementation. _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

Disappointing when drivers delay things, maybe annoying to get an early bird with missing or beta drivers that don't work well, but this laptop is a project of Linux people, for Linux people. It's just something that AmigaOS could also greatly benefit from, but as a Linux platform, I don't expect them to pile them up in a back hallway somewhere until Amiga drivers are all available and working well._________________ All glory to the Hypnotoad! |

Yup, and Amiga users get to watch Linux users while they wait and wait I wasn't implying that lack of Amiga drivers would keep the laptop from release Amiga is just piggybacking on yet another project That will likely maybe be fully ported to in a few years _________________
