"dual boot AmigaOS 4.1 and MorphOS 3.10 on an AmigaOne X5000"

It would be cool to be able to run AOS on core1 and MorphOS on core2.
I wonder if anyone has studied what kind of virtualization work is needed?

Then it would be cool to be able to use some kind of "screamernet" between those two.
(PowerUPNG to use AOS as CPU node, WarpUPNG to use MorphOS as CPU node)

Yes . I go away.

MorphOS is a commercial product as well. And I don't think it's a matter of "can not". Look at amount of GPU's they supports already. They can! (maybe more than anyone else in the Amiga market) They are building support from the ground up and cover everything in the process, that's all!

Barts should be followed by Cayman, right? Then comes Cape Verde (like: 7750, 7770), Pitcairn, and Tahiti, etc. And then..., and then...

@Spectre660

I have been looking at a PCI 9250 as i notice this is supported under MorphOS, so great that this works with Linux too.

Are there any issues that I may need to be aware of here in terms of my existing set up??

Other ports on my X5000 are occupied as follows:
PCI-E x16 slot taken by Radeon HD7750
one PCI-E x1 slot is taken up by my Envy 24HT sound card
one PCI-E x1 slot is taken up by the network driver
one PCI slot is taken my SIL3512 Sata controller.

Mmm i was in hope for a new version of OWB ... but according to the changelog it's the same old 1.24 version + some internal fixes from the latest AROS version

BTW the list of change in MOS 3.10 is impressive

@outrun1978

The PCI 9250 option is NOT working for MorphOS .

@Spectre660

One option is perhaps to get a gfx card that's supported by both MorphOS and OS4 (and Linux). What was used in the original Sam460 and X1000 deliverances? 4000-card? 5000-card? Those are supported by OS4 natively, right (even though not by a-eon's third party add-on product)?

I'd go for a 4000-card that OS4 supports. They have hardware overlay too, which is far more usable than 3D in our everyday usage scenario. It's not like this is a 3D gaming platform (or a gaming platform -at all-), and the general CPU/performance of even the most powerful PPC machines is still on a 2005 level anyway, so 4000-cards from 2008/2009 is not a bad match IMHO.

@TRIPOS

The big compromise is giving up 3D under AmigaOS 4.1 with RadeonHD 7000 series cards .
We have waited quite a while and some interesting games are showing up .
At this point is would seem that there would be a better experience in using second machine for MorphOS . Having multiple machines performing at their best is going to be more satisfying.

Listen I have updated morph os but OWB 1.24 which is said to be more or less updated but if I open a webpage goes into a crisis charge full but it stops everything and I have to restart
if I use the version I have in a separate folder it works as usual
I have updated but the version I had I did not install from scratch !!

The changes in Odyssey are not that small. The/a memory leak has been closed and some other fix allows to log in where it wasn't possible before.

And yes, one can dream of more, but everyday value of this Odyssey has increased quite a bit (I was reylly annoyed about some pages where I was not able to log in and am able now).

The WinUAE approach does not work with MorphOS.

I know, but rumors said about a new version, so i've expected a sort of 1.26 that include a new fixed core for PPC atleast ... but in reality what we have now is merely the old 1.24 plus the merge of the memory leaks's fix from deadwood, so while it's of course good for MorphOS users to have them, sadly it add nothing for us (OS4 users) that we didn't have already :-/

@cip060

Have you tried to launch Odyssey when booted off the iso? If in that case something goes wrong then something seems really to be broken, if it's okay there's something wrong with your installation.

Actually OS4 does not support any RadeonHD natively. The RadeonHD driver is fully owned by A-EON Technology and is not a part of OS4. If a user wants to use any Radeon card with OS4 they are using a “third party” driver.

I also heard some of these rumours, but since a while it was rather clear that this release will come with a fixed 1.24 instead of a new version.
The good thing is:now with MorphOS 3.10 finally rolled out we'll see a quicker update pace. Maybe this wil benefit Odyssey development, too.

@Zylesea
The old version that was in a separate folder works without problems apart from the usual problems of youtube that makes me see the videos in jerky
I made an update over 3.9 via ISO and boot-image copied to a USB stick and started with original firmware
my reader of the macmini does not read the discs very well
