@Trixie

Did you actually READ what was said?

"Everyone pre ordering an AAA will get the chance to preorder an early bird A1222 at a discounted price, guaranteed. "

So either the guarantee for everyone is BS, OR the original cap of 100 is BS.
You can't have it both ways and that was exactly the point I was making. (Well unless no one is buying the thing in the first place)

And suicidal marketing or not it certainly is clear as mud marketing and is once again par for the course in Amigaland.

WELL DONE AGAIN!

@cgutjahr

otoh, their January 2015 purchase of ImageFX did allow them the opportunity to offer it in the AAA bundle, no?

@Trixie

Indeed. These people of little faith.
For doubters AEON/Amiga Kit have processed every order I’ve ever made with them quickly and delivered. In fact my X5000 motherboard came very well packed and cushioned using the most reliable delivery company in the U.K. DPD which I was able to track on my phone and was delivered 2 days after I ordered.

Worried about a company going bust (God forbid). Then pay on a credit card. You are protected under Consumer protection laws at least in the U.K.

Whilst I am no legal expert, The terms and conditions of sale are pretty clear at least in my interpretation and the term subject to availability is considered enough legal Mumbo Jumbo in English to cover the company’s backside in the event something out of the ordinary happens. For example the only thing I can see being an issue here is if you order the AAA bundle but wait 6 months to register. A fire or theft of stock at a premises (again God Forbid) also falls into the realm of subject to availability.

Ultimately when signing a contract for payment you agree these terms and conditions. It’s your choice and no one is forcing you but if you really care about the Amiga scene you should support these guys and buy one 😉

If things do tits up then I am sure it will be amusing to tune in one afternoon to an episode of Judge Rinder to see a claim being played out in front of a national audience. Judge Judy will probably be available for our US cousins 😉

@thread

Couldn't it have been more simple if they just bundled AAA with the A1222 at a discount for the first 100 sales?

@Everblue

Why buying this AAAAAAAA crap pack at all to get the Tabor? Its like buying a ticket for a lottery a get a "chance" to buy a Tabor.

I see the AAA as a kind of pre-payment scheme: it will help finance the production of the 100 boards that the early adopters will then receive at a discount. In the Amiga-user quarters people generally hate pre-payments; the AAA will at least leave them with something tangible in their hands before they receive the main thing.

99 quid may sound a bit steep (hey, who wants an Amiga.org mousepad???) but the real keyword here is "Enhancer 2.0". I can assure you that the graphic/video innovations found in this package are well worth the price. And you get the mousepad on top And mouse. And native OS4 PPaint on CD. And other stuff. Win-win.

Indeed given that it appears that option 2 will have to pay a 20% down payment anyway of a similar amount why not snap one up now and get what amounts to a free pack.

Let’s be honest when people bought an A500 or A1200 pack back in the day did you turn around and say oh I won’t be buying this pack because I have no use for say Wordworth 3.5SE or you hated Bart Simpson and the Space Mutants which came with another pack. You were ultimately buying it for the machine and not necessarily for the contents of a freebie pack 😉

And yes The Enhancer 2.0 is the big caveat for the same reasons you have given 😉. Anyone that can’t see the opportunity that is being presented is perhaps not really that interested in owning one I’d argue and more fool them!

@outrun1978

I never said I didn't have faith or anything else you decided to throw in, what I said is that the whole prepay scheme does not make sense as it is advertised and should have been more clear from the onset.

You act like I am picking on your little sister or something. Give it a rest.

The FACTS are that they said one thing and then another in the very same sentence and I don't think I am being unreasonable for questioning exactly WHAT do they mean by it. ??

No idea what you are going on about but it has little if nothing to do with what I said at all.

And for the record Einstein, I DID order one already but as stated no one really knows what that means now do we?

So save your sarcastic remarks if you have nothing of value to add to the conversation.

Not at all sweetheart, but I forget this is Amigaworld and there always needs to be some sort of drama on these soap opera forums.

I’ll certainly take your advice to give it a rest and break open the Butterkist 😂

I decided I will skip this.

The lack of support for the X1000 and X5000 prompted me to this decision.

Sorry guys

I understand, especially consider what the X1000 and X5000 cost! In theory A1222 will sell much more so lack of support would hopefully change, if number of low sales was the issue.

Indeed more AmigaOS 4 users means more support and more software and games. This in turn brings more people on board and the eco system grows. It needs the wider community to jump on board and also quit being so negative all the time 😉

Can you give more detail on what you see as "lack of support for the X1000 and X5000". ?

@tlosm

I am assuming that he is referring to Product Support .

Not a "It is not as fast as my XYZ" issue .

I haven't tested it in years but I'm sure the Eternet port doesn't work.

USB sticks fail to be detected by CFE. Last time I tested I had to connect a hub before it would read them. Front panel USB ports didn't work. Even then USB is buggy and it can fail to read data.

X1000 is said to need a CFE update for RX drivers but there is none.

CFE can be unstable and crash.

Anythng relating to CFE, will not be fixed and they don't care about it, because it isn't OS4.

Plus the usual CFE being too slow and taking way too long to find a HDD that's right there.

@Hypex

who is "they"? in this context.

Ethernet would be an entirely different responsibility as opposed to CFE updates/fixes, afaik.

That would sit under the core OS4 developers that also patched CFE to load Amiga code.
