Looks nice, specially the price if it's even half as fast as they claim.

From the about page:Quote:
Disappointed by it’s direction and lack of any performance improvments, we named the project “Buffy” for obvious reasons.
"lack of any performance improvements"? The Apollo forums are full of happy customers.

Me neither, just think that it's pretty neat device and pricing seems to be right.

Also bonus quote from Nonarkitten "Since everything is open source, there's not much fear of being "cloned"."

It’s an interesting little thing. Not least of which because there are many places outside the Amiga where the original 68k ended up... could be useful in some other retro communities, too.

WTF! 030 on a 68k chip ....so I'm assuming this will work in the 1000 too....& if you tell me that it will give us A1000 users more chip ram too then

@klx300r

I don't think you would get more CHIP RAM from that because it is not on the chip bus, plus the A1000 Agnus is limited to 512KB ... but it looks like you'll have more FAST RAM than you could ever use in a lifetime on an A1000!

If you can't put a hard drive on it what's the point. Your still waiting for something.

You can't attach a hard drive to a Vampire? Why then does the forum feature a recent conversation regarding a new hard drive disk cache for Apollo OS? Genuinely curious; I haven't followed this very closely.

You can’t attach a hard drive to the Buffy... vampire is not topic here.
(but it is also true that you can’t attach hard drive to Vampire V600)

Thanks for enlightening me on the existence of unhappy customers.

I was replying to QuikSanz's reply to me, so I thought he meant the Vampire, since I had been talking about the Vampire. I must have misunderstood. Thanks!

Supposed to have full DMA support so use what ever you have used earlier. Sidecar/Zorro/IDE68k/Whatever.

@simplex,

A vampire V2 has IDE built in. So no waiting for the drive to catch up. I don't have an A600 though, never even seen one.

@QuikSanz

You can't use an IDE with Buffee?
68kIDE

Limited to 512 k chip RAM?
A1000 2MB chip RAM

@PhantomInterrogative: And where can I buy the IDE-solution you pointed out?

Current accelerator-cards for Amiga 500 have an IDE-port (which makes sense), so there is no real market for a IDE-solution like 68kIDE - so no ready to use products in shops. Maybe this will chance after the release of Buffee.

Making one isn't rocket science and if there will be demand for em it's more of matter of days that those will be available.

Or have fun building one by yourself.... https://www.pcbway.com/project/shareproject/IDE68K_68000_socket_IDE_boards_for_Amiga__V429_39_40_pin_0_1__header.html
