Hello all!

I installed the IBrowse 2.4, but got strange colors in a lot of the images when going to amigaworld.net in some images on the site. The popup text is very corrupted also.

I tried to update to 2.5.9 but I got the same result.

Now I saw that they released the 3.0 yesterday, so I installed that, but got the same color corruption and popup text corruption.

I also have pink background color on all the top button in Ibrowse in all of the versions I have tried.

I have installed the MUI 5.0 and AmiSSL from the www.ibrowse-dev.net site.

Is this a datatype problem? or is it a MUI problem?

I'm running a BPPC Amiga1200 with Mediator, Voodoo 5 and the registered version of Picasso96 3.x

What could the issue be? anyone else having this problem with IBrowse?

BR
Jörgen

@jonssonj

I suspect datatype related. Try change it to internal or another datatype.

@jonssonj

What screenmode? Try some other modes, I suspect you’re using a mode that isn’t correctly supported, like 15bit mode, 32bit RGBA or ARGB (try the other).

I tried all different scrreenmodes from 8-bit , 16 bit PC, 24-bit BGR, 32-bit BGRA

I have the same color corruption in all of the screenmodes.

I also tried a PAL screenmode with 256 colors, and then the buttons disappeared from IBrowser alltogether, I guess it is because I installed the 24-bit buttons when I installed IBrowse.

I will try to uninstall all the datatypes I installed yesterday and see if that makes any difference.

Does anybody knows where in the filesystem they are located?

I have now uninstalled all the datatypes and copied back the original from OS 3.2 both in Classes/Datatypes and in Devs/Datatypes

I uninstalled IBrowse 3.0 and MUI 5

I installed MUI 3.8

I tried to start the Poseidon configuration program "Trident" and the image of the statue still had a pink background and the image was corrupted. I tried different Screenmodes but they showed the statue in Trident with corrupted colors.

I then changed my resolution to PAL:High Res Laced 640x512 and now the statue shows up as it should without pink background. I think it blinks pink a very short moment before showing up with the right colors.

I guess this is a MUI problem together with my P96 screen. Maybe I should downgrade my P96 also to the 2.0c version and see if that works better.

I had the same problem with that pink backgrounds. It's actually the alpha channel of the PNG images, which is not properly parsed.

I'm on a 3.1 system with a ZZ9000 using the latest P96 release, but also installed the picture.datatype from the old Picasso96 v2.0 package here: http://aminet.net/package/driver/video/Picasso96

Also I installed Gunther Nikl's PNG datatype from here: http://aminet.net/package/util/dtype/PNGdt44
which seems to be the only PNG datatype able to correctly process the alpha channel.

So as you work on 3.2 you probably already have a better picture.datatype than my 3.1, so I would suggest to first install the PNGdt44, reboot and try. If that still does not work, then additionally replace the picture.datatype with the one from P96 v2, reboot and try again.

@jonssonj

What do you mean by "popup text" - the MUI help bubbles over links, etc? If these are corrupt, this would suggest a MUI or graphics driver issue.

For the pink backgrounds issue, are you using the imageset supplied with IBrowse or custom images? If the former, it has nothing to do with alpha channels - the images are 8-bit PNG or 5-bit ILBM images. This is therefore related to broken/missing transparent colour handling in your PNG datatype, as I assume you chose the 256 colour installation option. I've not tested any others lately, but WarpPNG certainly works properly in this respect. For testing, you could try reinstalling IBrowse with the 32 colour imageset.

Hello and thanks for trying to help me, 🙂, it is not just in Ibrowse the problem arises, it seems to be in all software that uses MUI. It does not matter which version of MUI I'm using. I have the same pink backgrounds in some images, I assume it is .png images, f.eg. in the USB Poseidon stack configuration software. And all text in all help bubbles are unreadable.

It all works if I do not use a P96 Screen mode. If I revert back to a standard PAL f.eg. 640x512 with 256 colors it all works.

So, I guess it must be something wrong with the latest P96 in combination with MUI.

I will try to use the P96 PNG datatype from P96 version 2.x instead.

Regarding the suggestion to use Cybergraphics instead, I don't know if that is possible with the mediator board and a Voodoo graphics card? I thought that I had to use the P96.

Hello all!

many hours later I now have a working P96 Screenmode of 1920x1200x24bit and I´m writing this message on my Amiga 1200, :) Yay!!!

The solution you all ask, what was it,

The solution was to download the correct version of P96 from individual computers. You must have atleast version: 3.3.3. The latest version they are selling is 3.4.0.

After installation of the p96 and after you are sitting with your workbench in a p96 screenmode, you go to

DEVS:Monitors

and click on the Voodoo and select Icon Information in the workbench screen. Then add the following to the tooltype:

NOMASKEDBLIT=YES

Then reboot your machine and your color corruption should disappear, :)

I´m now a happy Amiga camper again.

Now on to solve the next problem, keyboard settings!
