Sorry, man, no, it can't. There are barely any changes between previous ahi and emu10kx driver versions. _________________ Audio Evolution http://www.audio-evolution.com

| Not for a long long time. If the SB Live! 24 has real 24-bit at all, it goes through a separate p16v chip and not through the emu10kx which makes it a totally different story. Source is available if you wanna have a go at it... _________________ Audio Evolution http://www.audio-evolution.com

| Hi Dave. With the new AHI the camd.library works again. I use the camd3test so i will get back the the nondebug from aminet as i believe that is what we have to use.
Both Horny and HDRec worked so i can only say. Dave your the man :)
Im lucky again. And i will be even luckier when next os4 update is coming. (when its done hehe) |

| I wonder if there is anyone that has the following EMU cards and test if they work with Dave's and MartinBloms drivers. The latest AHI and camd.library.
As i see they have also the emukx chip and they are of better quality for musicians then the audigy2. Therefore i wonder if they work for playback, recording and midi. I asked in the audiostores but noone has any for testings. They said that i can buy and test hehe.... (Yeah sure)
Here is some of the EMU cards i wonder for. 1820/0404/Proteus X/1212/1616/1820/ etc etc |

Yeah, Creative have become rather infamous for misleading customers with their soundcard specifications. I used to own a SBLive! Platinum, and it was by far the worst soundcard I had in my PC. A complete waste of money I tell you: the card internally worked at 48 kHz and the chip had to resample on-the-fly if you wanted to use another rate (thus bringing my poor Duron to its knees); the mic preamp on the drivebay was a low-gain high-noise piece of cr*p; the supplied driver provided an unbelievable latency of 750 ms; and half of the bundled software worked with Windows 98 only. No way this card could be used for music production, not even "semi-professional" as advertised for the Platinum. _________________ The Rear Window blog

| 16-bit audio on the AmigaOne nowadays is just as good as anything else out there, and combined with MIDI, it becomes an unbeatable feature! We have to accept the fact that we won't see 24-bit audio drivers for quite a while. Maybe when OS4.1 is out with a brand new audio system, but for now, we have the best from AHI with the latest AHI system and drivers (even 16-bit, but with MIDI-features for SB-cards)!
I remembered when my AmigaOne was still working and playing 16-bit audio and music (still not tried the MIDI-feature), using Audigy 2, i have to say that the sound quality was so good that i hardly noticed any difference to 16-bit vs 24-bit audio!
That means 16-bit audio on AmigaOne in OS4 is so excellent that you can hardly notice any difference against the 24-bit audio. It's like on the Amiga, 16-bit would sound just like a 24-bit sound system! I'm sure most of you think like that, too!
16-bit audio has got a new life on Amiga now, and it has risen itself from the ground! Before screaming of 24-bit audio on Amiga, i think the 16-bit audio has to grow finish first, then we can start talking about 24-bit audio features, which i think we will see in OS4.1 with its' brand new audio system, so there is hope only if we're patient! |

That's nonsense. The Amiga/A1 is not any better than the same card in a PC. AHI can do 24-bit btw, it's actually doing 32-bit internally and delivers 32-bit to the drivers. I have AHI Terratec Aureon drivers that can play and record in 24-bit even, although there is probably no program out there that handles it. It's just that we don't have any docs on Creative cards and their complexity is huge compared to other cards that we have difficulty in supporting these cards fully.
That said, 16-bit is enough for most uses. _________________ Audio Evolution http://www.audio-evolution.com

Ok, so i got it a bit wrong. You know more about that thing of AHI then most of us. I know 16-bit audio is enough for most use. At least for now, but i'm sure most of us also want to see 24-bit AHI-drivers sooner or later... |

Please read issue 20 of Total Amiga magazine that is just out now and read the interview with me and the article about eXtream, the new streaming system. Hopefully there are some answers to your questions in there! _________________ Audio Evolution http://www.audio-evolution.com
