Software News   Software News : Terratec Phase22 supported
   posted by DaveAE on 5-Nov-2005 12:25:31 (6828 reads)
The Terratec Phase 22 audio card is now supported by the Envy24HT 5.5 AHI driver, which will soon find its way to OS4depot. The Phase22 has both analogue and digital stereo in and out, as well as MIDI in and out. The analogue connectors are balanced quarter-inch jacks, making it easy to connect to a mixing desk. See this link for more information about this card.

Kind regards,

Davy Wentzler

You haven't been looking at the right soundcards. On home theater or semi-pro cards the small headphone jacks or RCAs are more common. Professional soundcards, however, normally have 1/4" TRS jacks and/or XLR connectors.

Anyway, well done Davy!

Thanks!
If somebody wants to purchase this card from me, it's 50 euro plus shipping costs.

Your a legend Dave!

I have one question though - are Terratec supportive of platforms other than Mac and PC? I assume so because I see their website offers development docs, but the Phase 22 card shown on the link you supplied is listed as "Multiplatform" (I.E Mac and PC). Would they be adverse to putting AmigaOS4 on that list?

They 'only' support PC and Mac. Where did you find development docs?
Please don't contact them to put OS4 on their list, when they do, they will have to support it, and they can't.

Yea, its been awhile since I've looked at them.

I bought A Tascam US-428 like 5 years ago and I've never needed anything since then.

Any chance of one of these USB boards ever working with OS4?Tascam us-428

Yes. The MIDI controller part should work now if it confirms MIDI spec. And one day I will write a USB audio driver, just not within a year I think. I have other things to do!

@Rudei

Well, I made a M-Audio Audiophile 2496 driver last week, but the recording doesn't work correctly, probably due to the vast amount of data that the Envy24 transfers over the bus (22 channels of 32-bit data).

Heh, a 24 bit AD converter with 100dB SNR? Right. So the last 7 bits are basically noise, then?

(Edit: Note to self: when you're being a wise-ass, it helps to calculate correctly. 100dB is approximately 17 bits, not 20. And certainly not 24...)

So what soundcard are you using these days and why? Would this soundcard (and it looks to be a good one) be a top choice for OS4 users? What about 68K versions of these drivers for us lowly Amithlon users...

@olegil

You know that the more SNR the better?

@TJH

There are different good models for different purposes. This is a very good choice for musicians who have a mixing desk, since it connects easily to it.
There will be only OS4 versions of these drivers.

@olegil

Wise-ass!
You know very well that 100dB SNR is a very good value.
