Software News   Software News : VICE 1.19 for all flavours of AmigaOS
   posted by AmiDog on 21-May-2006 17:41:11 (6812 reads)
I've made a few bugfixes and Marco van den Heuvel have implemented a lot of setting dialogs and made versions for AmigaOS3, AmigaOS4, MorphOS and AROS (i686).

Grab a copy for your AmigaOS flavour of choice at http://www.amidog.com/.

Good work! I've downloaded the OS4 and MorphOS versions. On first try the OS4 version works fine but the MorphOS vesion meditates as soon as you try to attach a disk image?

@TrevorDick

I'm not able to test the MorphOS build myself, but if it doesn't work, send some crashlogs and we'll see if we can fix it.

@WOSPUPOS4

The OS3.x version is a 68k build (forgot to write that at my homepage), so it will probably be rather slow on just about every setup...

Thanks Mathias for this uniting the systems-effort ;)
Old VICE worked nicely under OS4Emu (using MOS), will be nice to test it natively now.

@elwood

Pretty much, yes. I tried to make an OS4 version some time ago, but I couldn't get the MiniGL rendering to work. I guess porting Mupen64 would be the way to go, but I think we need full OpenGL for that.

There is a bug in Hook handling. In the file
src/arch/amigaos/mui/filereq.c line 591:

static const struct Hook NewVolumeHook = { { NULL,NULL },(VOID *)NewVolume,NULL,NULL };

should be

static const struct Hook NewVolumeHook = { { NULL,NULL }, &HookEntry, (VOID *)NewVolume, NULL };

As I see 68k version works by luck because it doesnt use Hook parameters but MorphOS build generates 68k exception.

Other Hooks probably have the same bug.

Using SDI headers would save some work....

SDI headers are stupidly overcomplicated macro game for simple hook stuff... Just define a macro that initializes hook with or without HookEntry depending on the target platform and the hook is done.

Piru made fixes to MorphOS version and enhanced version is available here. I hope authors can merge diffs (they enhance other version too).

I've tried this on my A4000 68060 @ 50Mhz, but I'm only getting at most 50% speed, is that right?

Thanks for making it anyway, tiz the best on OS4,
