Events   Events : AmiRevival Press Release
posted by giga on 28-Jun-2006 9:07:01 (8773 reads)
AmiRevival, the Amiga event to watch this July, will soon be upon us so now is the time to book tickets and exhibitor tables. The event promises to be a success with the likes of Mindspace (UML diagram software for OS4 and soon OS3.x) and other exhibitors attending, providing a large amount of interest.

In order to make this event the success it deserves to be we need your feedback and support. We are looking to provide something for everyone from the new user to the old, classic to next generation. To help us in this goal we would gladly welcome exhibitors from the Pegasos / MorphOS side as well as those from AROS and the Amiga communities. The Amiga community has always been one of friendly support and a cheerful and we want to rekindle that spirit.

We are also looking for more exhibitors to attend the event, helping in its success. If you feel you could exhibit, be that as a trader, usergroup or an individual we would like to hear from you. See the official Amirevival website for more exhibitor information. We will welcome all exhibitors so long as what your exhibit is related to the Amiga or Amiga-like systems (including Amiga emulation, AROS and MorphOS).

If you have a new product that you want to release in style, AmiRevival would be a good place to do this. With eyes on this event and all the after event reports this could be a great marketing opportunity. Yoodoo2, one of the authors of Mindspace, plans to attend and will be launching version 1 of his very useful product on the day of the show – why not join him?

Various user groups from around the UK will also be exhibiting – the likes of SEAL, the authors of Total Amiga, will be attending the show with other usergroups including AmiSEK; the only user group in the South East of England.

PegXMac, the software allowing you to run MacOS on your AmigaOne, will also be available on the AmiSEK stand to try and we are hoping to have the latest version available to demonstrate at the event – its first public demonstration.

To book tickets, exhibitor space or just to find out more information visit the official AmiRevival website.

Good luck with the show! I'd like to come, but not enough to endure an 8 hour round trip

So is this show still on then ?

A url has been bandied about claiming its all up in the air atm.

http://www.freelists.org/archives/scag/06-2006/msg00001.html

Could Ryu please confirm if this show is still on or not as I don't fancy travelling halfway across the country and discovering on the door it was cancelled.

At present, the show is still on but we need more support - more exhibitors being the key requirement.

I've been in touch with a number of companies and individuals, some of which have not replied so I would urge you to reply to myself or Ryu urgently if we have contacted you already.

The URL referenced to was on a private list intended for SCAG members and show organisers only and should not have been released onto a public forum.

If the show had been canceled there would have been a public cancelation news item.

Please help support the team and the show - if you can come and can exhibit please do so. What happened to the supportive Amiga community?

GiGa

No new AmigaOS 4 Hardware on the show = no exhibitors = no visitors
That really easy.

Don't be too presumtious (sp?) about the hardware situation. You never know.

Either way, there'll be lots of new software, lots of old friends and a few cracking games to play.

What more could you need for a good day out?

What about £5 off the registration price of MindSpace for every attendee? Done.

@AmigaPapst

Give people a chance to register as exhibitors before making conclusions. Up to today I was under the impression that AmiRevival was cancelled. There's no point in trying to register for an event that won't happen. Not that AmiRevival has been revived (sorry, couldn't resist ), we'll see over the next few weeks who's got stuff to show.

The status of the show is as follows:

we need more exhibitors, and we need them fast to go ahead with the show. As it is we have far too few for me to lay out the cash needed to secure the venue, and besides I don't want to hold a show where only a few tables are occupied...

I and other friends of mine have spent the last few weeks chasing exhibitors but many people we have tried to contact have chosed to ignore us, which hasn't exactly been encouraging so it is as follows:

If we don't see a rapid incrase in interest for the show by both exhibitors and visitors by this coming sunday the show will be cancelled.

I have been promised a PowerVixen LT for show, but I can't go on that alone and run with the expense and imense effort involved in such a show.

The mail to our private SCAG mailing list was intended for members, and members only and I was back then trying to get more support... Several usergroup members chose to leave the group completely and give up all help for the show, which was a big blow to myself....

Further to that my A1200, which has been my work horse for many years suffered a major HDD failure, which I still have yet to recover fully from.

Also over the past 2 weeks I have seen my Nanna (who was more a mum to me than anything) suddenly fell ill and died just over a week ago and we buried her this Monday. So my life has been extremely difficult and to be quite frank I haven't wanted to deal with anything to do with the Amiga Scene.

I know a few of you have emailed to ask whats going on with the show and I apologise for not replying but I hope the reasons above are enough of an excuse for not replying. I am truely sorry.

Above all and thanks to the going on with my group, the lack of support for the show and the overall situation with the scene has left me very demoralised and if I do have to end up cancelling the show (which is looking extremely likely) I will be pretty much quiting the frontline of the scene and taking a much more of a back seat, which would involve me giving away all my Amiga kit and putting all my projects on ice.

I thank everyone who has supported me over the years, I am truely greatfull and I hope I can continue to serve you all in a posative and constructive way, but only time will tell...

Best Regards

Darren

This is the chance for Elbox, ACK, Troika and Eyetech to show that they are alive, and have some hardware for the future ...

Sorry to hear about your bereavement. I hope that you do manage to make AmiRevival a success. I would come if I lived close enough.

If the show is a GO, SEAL and more importantly Total Amiga magazine will be there exhibiting

Unfortunately I will not personally be able to go as I am on holiday, I hope people pull together and offer help, I know what it's like to organise and put on a show!

well, although I am not an exhibitor, I have bought tickets for this event.

Darren i know what its like to loose a loved one so close to you,

when I was 13 my dad was in a car accident, and fell into a coma,

he had bad brain damage from the accident, and for a while they thought he would not wake from the coma.

He did wake, but he was like a baby, could not talk just smiled when he saw us visit him in hospital.

He was on the long road to recovery when around chritmas that year we had a phonecall from the hospital, he was dead.

The doctor which was on duty that night had put the wrong size catheter pushed down his throat to drain the fluid from his lungs (a thing they did dayly), because the one they had used was too big it ha tore apart his insides, and over the course of the day he had slowly bled to death internally.

It changed my life forever, and swayed a lot of decisions during my teens, but one thing it never changed was my passion for computers.

never loose faith.

It'll be a mission and a half to get there and back in one day but I'm going from Newport South Wales to Amirevival if anyone from there want's to go and share petrol costs. I have at least 3 spare seats in my car.

I posted here as the Amirevival site seems to have gone to the dogs, with little or no serious carpool info or suggestions.

I really hope it dosent come to that. The community really needs people like you, so i hope you will reconsider this even if the show does indeed end up being cancelled.

Best wishes to you and your family.

@Ryu

I wish you alot of strengt in these difficult times and do
whatever you think is best for you. It will take some time
to overcome the situation, i know it because i had the
same situation with my dad a few years ago. But i was
happy to be a part of this Amiga-community and it helped
me to keep me focusted on the things i really wanted.

Hope this helps you a bit.

Dirk.

And yes, its 209 miles from my house according to google maps, so its a bloody long trek.

Doing a "trade show" these days doesn't make sense, even if there would be new HW actually on sale....

Just cut it down to some sort of user-meeting with the possibilty of doing presentations. Rent a smaller room and talk about better times (past and yet to come),

@Xeron

209 miles ? Sounds more like 2 hours per trip for me
